Just laugh. Thing is, she’s right. She’s usually good about letting me indulge in my whims, and I wasn’t even serious when I showed her that pic. I want to retire next year, so I don’t need to be throwing that kind of money around at absolute non-essentials. I love looking at some of these beautiful pieces, but she asked what I’d actually do with it, and the fact is I’d just put it away somewhere and look at it once in awhile - no way I’d go walking around with a knife that expensive, much less use it and risk damaging or otherwise devaluing it. So I’m fine. I picked up a couple of really nice knives these last few weeks that I like looking at, fidgeting with, and using, and I figure there might be one or two more at some point, but they’ll most likely be of the modestly priced variety. I’m a very casual hobbyist - there’s a lot of nice stuff out there in the $100-$200 range that I’d be more than happy to have. I’ll leave the higher end stuff to the hard core users and collectors.
But damn those Olamics are some kinda nice.![]()
Love the subtle use of MOP. Very elegant.Yesterday’s carry. I had a great friend fix up this original Shamwari recently and now it flips like a dream with no lockslip!! I couldn’t be happier. Also reshaped the nub on the pocket clip so it would stop ripping up my pants.
MOP inlays done by yours truely.

It is a great custom blade made by Jim Grice of DBKnives who has since retired from knife making. Glad I got it when I did. He let me pick the scales.
