So I fell down this rabbit hole.... this is my first Mod to a Swiss Army knife. I drew up these scales and ran them out on the CNC out of black canvas Micarta and converted the pivots to torx. I’m pretty pleased but I tweaked the program to not engrave the cross so deep.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I think I am addicted to modding these alreadyit’s like LEGOs for big kids. I already took it back apart and replaced the awl with a small penknife blade lol.
ok .. ok .. ok.. Seriously - between your Opinel re-envisioning and this SAK .. WONDERFULNESS! .. someone needs to pay you a whole lotta money and have you figure out how to make these production versions and get them in stores so that I can spend all of my money on acquiring every last variation of these knives.
You seriously take a knife that has things I find good , so-so, and bad - strip out all of the negative and make it a complete ball of awesome! If you, in the process of collecting afore-mentioned pile of money, could convince them to replace the main blade of the SAK with a cts-xhp (or m390, or ..) one with the same dimensions, I would nominate you for a Nobel prize!

Thank you very much for the compliments! I’m very fortunate to be at a place in my life that Ive been able to equip myself with a CNC and bring these ideas to fruition. I have so many projects and improvements on things in my head that I can now build. I love to be able to share these projects with everyone here who have a common interest in this stuff. There’s more to come so stay tuned! And if anyone from R&D is reading I’m ready for a career change, I’d love to do this stuff every day!

After a bit of back and forth here yesterday with @Phil Indablanc about Les George I was thinking I still had something of his besides my WC Eagle. I sold my ZT 9020 a while back-- good knife but I just couldn't get used to that swoopy blade shape. I remembered my 0909 and pocketed that one before heading back to the shop this morning.
It's one sturdy beast of a knife, but not much use edge-banding. More modest cutting tools required for junking out the pre-finished maple banding...
...and trimming it after applying.
