Hang in there, got to make mistakes to learn.
Even last year I had to swallow my pride and re-adjust my freehand technique. That’s after 5 years of experience too.
Oh! Thanx! I just thought the low grit si carbide stone is unacceptable for the steel, thats why i asked. Maybe its just weak to grind the chips and i still didnt bite into them enough. Wow, now i think my contego ht was really bad, as i used to hear that m4 is actually harder to grind than this bohler

Haven’t used that style of stone, so I personally don’t know. M4 can certainly present some challenges over steels like VG-10. I would ask the guys over in the maintainence and tinkering section about your particular setup.

For awhile one of my issues was my strop paste and media, so it is possible it could be the stones. More times than not, it’s patience, apexing, stropping to remove burr, and patience.

I've had this 520 for a long time and the pivot has never been any good. I took it apart today, cleaned everything and rubbed the washers on an Edge Pro glass blank with polishing tape on it. Put it back together with some Slip 2000 and it's pretty smooth now. It will flick open when it wouldn't before and the pivot can now be tightened down enough to get rid of the side to side play. They work a lot better when cleaned and lubed.

I don't want to hear a word from any of you about "Take My Breath Away" being next in que.

All cleaned up and working better than new. Now it just needs to be resharpened.

I like it enough to put a new lanyard and bead on it. Need to look and see if there is a new clip around here for it.

I hope everyone is having some of this warm weather we are having here today after the dreaded Polar Vortex earlier this week. It was 18 Thursday morning but it's almost 70 here today.
