New to me Bailey 2.2 Geek. My buddy Fullflat Fullflat sent it in for sharpening and I refused to give it back. (I'll pay him for it... probably.) :p
Looks like I’ve been muscled! I’m stoked to see it getting some well deserved pocket time :) It’s such a cool piece, and now that it’s got a T.L.E. Sharp edge, it’s an actual knife ...and a really nice one, at that!

Hello, Just a question. What does applying mineral oil to the micarta do? I have several knives with micarta scales but have never heard of doing this? Thanks

When you google this you will actually find quite a few threads about it here on Blade Forums. The oil soaks into the canvas fibers on the outside of the micarta and makes it look less dry. Depending on how the micarta is made (I assume it is the ratio of fabric and resin) some micarta is very smooth, almost like plastic while other types have more of the fabric exposed and appear more rough and often a little bit dry. If you do not oil your micarta and just carry it frequently then it will also take up sweat and skin oils and develop a natural patina. Oiling it speeds up this process but some of the oil will evaporate within a few days and the micarta looks more dry again but you can always repeat the treatment and overtime natural patina will also mix in. Some people even use olive oil but I read that it is recommended to use mineral oil or petroleum jelly because organic oils can turn rancid.
