Felt the need to get some Maxamet out today. On a roll for pairs lately, it seems. This pair has reprofiles that I am quite proud of. I'm a bit crazy for sure, but Maxamet is one of my favorite steels to sharpen. For its crazy high wear resistance, it behaves very well on stones and consistently comes up super sharp for me. Both of these will treetop hair. It's not the steel for everybody or every situation, but I love the stuff.

Photo dump and long-winded post ahead. Can’t say I didn’t warn ya’.
3-4 miles. That’s all that separates us from the beach. And yet, it’s been well over a year since the sand last graced my toes.
If I had to guess, I’d say I’ve been to the beach 5 times in the last 10 years. Why? I have no idea. I suppose after 35 years in Florida it’s just one of those things we’ve come to take for granted. Life gets in the way. We’ll go “next week”. “It’s too hot!” “I don’t want sand in my car!” Blah, blah, blah.
We’re talking 9-10 minutes by car….and I can’t even remember what year it was that I was last on the beach. What an absolute frikkin’ waste.
Anyway, our granddaughters are down for the weekend, so last night we hopped in the car and did something totally out of character. We actually went to the beach for sunset. The Protech SBR “Del Fuego” seemed like an appropriate choice.
My wife and looked at each other and asked the same question…”Why the eff don’t we do this more often?!??”
Geez. It shouldn’t take out of town guests to get us to enjoy one of nature’s greatest gifts. So we made a pact last night; my wife and I are going to shake the dust and cobwebs off the old beach chairs, pack a little cooler and enjoy sunsets on the beach at least twice a month from here on out.
Lol, we even did a pinky swear on it…..so it’s as good as done (everyone knows ya’ never renege on a pinky swear. That’s just begging for trouble).
