EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

It's been over a year since I had a Benchmade in my collection (a Bugout was the last, oddly enough), and a couple months since my rotation has included a knife with clip holes in the show side. I decided to get over my previous aesthetic preferences and make an exception for the Bugout 535BK-4, because this factory configuration is stunning.

One thing I learned from my previous Bugout is that as much as I appreciate it being so lightweight, I don't need it to be that lightweight. Its lightness wasn't making me choose it over my NeOn NL (2.7 oz.), and consequently I rarely carried it. But I love the Bugout design, with its slicey all-purpose blade, neutral handle, awesome clip, and overall vibe -- so I realized that I missed the Bugout, not necessarily the lightest Bugout possible.

In-hand, I don't even think about the pocket clip holes. And in-pocket, at 2.4 oz. (on my postal scale; official stats say 2.5), this variation is just as unnoticeable in basketball shorts. This is just a fantastic little knife. :)

I admire your perseverance. I can go about 1 week.
You learn a lot about yourself when you do this haha. It also really changes how you view certain knives. Like you may like the knife for a day but would you like it if it was the only one you could have. Also when buying knives you stop to think if you would want to carry this new knife for a month.

Carrying this one by @Sam_Hill_1911 around the house😎
This reminds me of the sword from the game Dishonored. Pretty amazing.

Your points are thought provoking. I will try to apply them on my future carries and purchases.

Great game 👍

I'm only carrying it because I put in my pocket just after I bought it, which I did purely out of curiosity. I had to know what a $3.87 knife from Wallyworld looked, felt and operated like. I have to say...I'm pretty darn amazed. Reasonably sharp, solid lock up, adjustable pivot and no blade play. It's certainly no BM, Spydie or Kershaw (don't even know what steel was used), but...I've been thinkin' about what I paid for most of my knives and how I could buy 40 or more of these with the money spent on one of them. LOL

(If I'd realized it was tip down carry only I might not have gotten it. Ha...)

Ya know, I have thought about this sort of thing myself. The 3.5" Ontario Rat is such a good knife for $50, sometimes I have to ask myself why am I so in love with my Spydercos and Medfords?

Actually, you can get one for $23. I got my assisted one for $50 and then deassisted it - I wanted the G10 scales. The action on it is nearly perfect.

😯 $50 for your RAT 1? I paid about $22 on sale for the RAT2 and $35 for a the RAT 1, not that $50 is not fair, it's totally worth it in D2, but I feel part of the joy of the knife is the budget price - did you get an assisted version?

Yeah, I was playing with the RAT last night, opening it and closing it, thinking about the way even the AUS-8 has held up great, how this action is great, how, except for Spyderco, this is the finest liner-lock knife I own. It almost is like it has no right to be this good for such a price. It is such a modern classic, that I ordered some custom Maple scales for it.
