I’ve been eyeing that Giant Mouse, how do you like it, if you don’t mind sharing your thoughts

I like it, been pretty impressed with all my GMs. Elmax blade, nice slicey grind but thick enough to feel solid. They put the jimping high up on the blade, it looks odd at first, but it really works well in use. Rounded spine is a nice touch.

I really like the micarta handle, it's not thin, really fills the hand. If you like thin profiles, this is not the knife for you. I saw a YT video where the guy mentioned he didn't like the way the lock relief felt in hand, but I couldn't disagree more, for my hand it feels fine, nice and secure even.

Action is the interesting part. It's super smooth and easy to open, but it's fairly tight. If you're looking for flick/fidget factor, this is not the knife for you. I enjoy that though, and the fact that it's not a flipper.

Very well built, all centered, no standout quality issues. Wire clip... meh, but it works.

At a good price, sale, 2nd hand etc. I'd say go for it. Full price, I'd be thinking about it a bit longer... their pricing isn't great.

YMMV

I love my Holey Ironwood 710-1401, but in many ways this user PJ version is my favorite as it was my first of these excellent McHenry and Williams masterpieces. It also, tellingly, came to me used and abused and took considerable effort, bit-by-bit over several years to achieve its present state. This knife was full of gunk, off-center, had the backspacer rudely hacked out inside as it must have been touching the edge, had one of the worst "sharpening" jobs I've ever seen, and it's blade was pitted one side with areas of dark discoloration on the other.

At this point the backspacer has been replaced with standoffs, the pitting on the blade is minimized with the discoloration gone, the blade is well-centered, the action smooth and free, and several sharpenings have yielded a re-profiled, polished, and keen secondary bevel. Benchmade D2 is great stuff as it maintains an excellent working edge that comes back easily with a little stropping and also has a really attractive overall luster despite the remaining, minimal pitting and scratches from lots of use at my hand.

I'm happy to have this one in my pocket and put to use cutting down cardboard to feed into our masonry heater on this Simple Seven-ten Saturday.

Also, I really love the way these old Benchmade black oxide clips wear and glow from years of use and contact. They work pretty damn well too....
