Gary Fadden took control of Al Mar Knives after some reportedly unpleasant wrangling with Al's widow, Ann. The knife manufacture which had been carried out in Seki City Japan, largely by G Sakai ,moved to Moki, another excellent maker in that same city. In 2019, Fadden sold the company to Edge Technologies, a Maryland company that has moved all production to China. Current Al Mars are now budget priced, and use Chinese steel and materials. No AM's are being produced in Japan any longer. You definitely got the juices flowing I’ve got one in my cart fighting the temptation and I’m loosing lol.
Can’t remember the model but many years ago I bought a Al Mar right around when i started collecting and getting into knives . Are these Japan models still in production? I see mostly the China version 2020 in Frn assisted . I did find a SERE 2000 like yours but in OD green and I’m sucker for OD green.
Wow what a beast!

There are still some new old stock SERE 2000's available, some at the big river site, but also at Knifecenter, one of our BF supporting dealers. You might look at my previous post in response toChuck_Nunface 's .
HahaBetween you and Chazzy I’m chomping at the bit here![]()
Thanks brother for looking outHaha. You might have to get one brother! I don't know how, but amazingly there are still some green SERE 2K's available on one dealer website "center". I never remember who is and who isn't ok to mention on here dealer wise, but I just found it on the third page of a Bing search.
I'm not. If it sells, it sells. It's sticking around and I'll carry until someone wants it.I appreciated you writing and offering me a very fair deal after I commented at your YouTube review. Your knife, like new with a fresh polished edge, was very tempting.
You and I have shared our appreciation for more basic and old school knives before and the SERE 2K fits that bill completely. I see you carried it again the other day, and considering what an excellent knife it is you can't be all that heartbroken that it hasn't sold.![]()
This one is not an Alox model, it’s a Tinker with aftermarket micarta scales. I usually grab it specifically because the Tinker has a Phillips and the micarta scales work much better for me than stock, especially in conditions like today.Wow what a beast!
Which ALOX is that? I've been looking at them lately and am seriously considering an Apache or Farmer.
