EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

As often happens lately, I stayed in the same knife storage tier for today's carry while putting away yesterday's, this time grabbing another Wilkins Grip. My 550 HG wears what Kevin describes as Coyote G11, though it's a color that presents quite variably depending on the lighting. Sometimes the scales have a sort of greenish hue, sometimes sorta beige-y, though they never really look like what I would consider Coyote.

Today I was over in the woodshop cleaning up my old Milwaukee SawzAll, its box, and blades which had suffered from the effects of that truck-box leak. Working under the overhead LEDs there, the 550's scales looked and photo'd positively yellow. G11 has an interesting translucence, a very nice feel in hand, and I'm glad I picked these up out of Kevin's remaindered stock.

Edit: doing a quick internet search just after posting the above, I read that G11 is somewhat less strong than G10, but is a better insulator and can withstand higher temps. It also was described having a natural yellow, green, tan color, which is definitely what these babies are.

Back in December I picked up some Red G10 and black Aluminum Wilkins grips, as I only have a DayGlo Green set on one Griptilian right now (DayGlo not Swimming Pool Green). I still haven't gotten around to installing them...

But this talked me into ordering these G11 limited edition, and the other green ones too.

The old 531, first Benchmade I bought. This knife and I have a rocky relationship because this is the one that hung some strings on my pocket and unexpectedly "Emerson wave" opened on me and cut my finger. I still love it though :)

You don’t really bond with a knife until it gives you a “kiss” … 😉

I was just over there after posting earlier and saw he still had some of the special editions like mine left. I think you'll be pleased with them--the natural G11 is a cool material and I really like the bronzed backspacer too. Several years ago Kevin had a red G11 set on close-out that I almost bought a few times, but passed on. Once it was gone I kinda kicked myself coz it had that really sweet translucence. That black aluminum hardcoat set must be nice, eh?

Nice!
I have looked at those on and off over the years, (AL MAR in general) and somehow never pulled the trigger … interested in hearing your impressions.
Here is my early on impressions
Feels great in hand
Beautiful looking knife
Sharp as hell out of the box with a nice even grind and edge on both sides. After a few times of opening and closing I noticed the detent ball needed a drop of oil it was dry and after that the knife felt like it was on bearings smooth as glass. Prior to that I also noticed it was getting a little lock stick . Not bad but it was there although after a handful more times of testing the action the lock stick disappeared and again that was before oiling the detent ball. Action is solid with no play in any direction. The detent bar is at about 48 percent .
I think the liners could have been rounded off a little I can feel them with a firm grip but that’s an easy fix. I think this will be a great Knife and happy to have it in my rotation and it’s sexy as hell lol .Also glad I was able to get one before they are sold out .
