EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Beautiful shots! Can I ask which SAK model you've got there?

SAK Ranger ! A Huntsman++

They allowed you to take a knife on a cruise? I used to be able to take a knife 10+ years ago but not anymore.

It was buried deep in my “checked” suitcase, which has never posed a problem flying….so I assumed it would get aboard the ship with no issues. In hindsight, it would make sense that the cruise line would ban knives….but I’m so used to traveling with this one it didn’t really cross my mind while packing.

Now, when I inadvertently disembarked with the knife in my pocket (at our first port) it occurred to me that I might have an issue getting it back aboard. Surprisingly, however, I simply set it in the x-ray bin atop my wallet and alongside my phone….and nobody questioned it. It was in a carry pouch, for what it’s worth. Over the course of 8 days I never had an issue coming or going with it.

The fixed blade I purchased was confiscated immediately though. They said something like “we need to see the blade please”, and when I unwrapped it I think it was the length of the sheath/blade that came into play. My guess is that it’s all dependent on the size of the blade and that the small 31 measures in just below the limit.

Something I found really interesting is that knives are one of the top selling souvenirs sold in Alaska. I wouldn’t have guessed that.

How do you like those scales? I've thought about a set for my Delica.

Indeed it is! I’ve only had it a few days but I think it’s fantastic. I’m pretty new to button locks, only other is a Protech Newport , so muscle memory forces my thumb towards where a liner/frame lock would be, I’m still getting used to it. Love the fat solid slabs of Ti … well executed by Ferrum Forge and WE Knives

Thanks for the rundown. The frame lock version was a great edc while I had it.

Awesome knives. Please forgive my ignorance. What is the scalpel and what do you use it for? Not being a smart a@#, but I'm really curious. Thanks.

it’s just a really cool and beautiful little instrument. One of those I didn’t know I needed it till I saw it. Phillip Patton makes these out of his scrap Damascus, really nice piece of work for a “scrap”. I had him make me a little Kydex sheath for it so it can be worn as a neck knife or horizontal on a belt in case a small blade is needed to be deployed quickly.

I just use it for little cutting tasks, original intention was a small lightweight blade to keep in my hunting back pack for caping and detail work while skinning out an animal.
