EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Thanks again for the tour, I hate to say this but the backdrops steal the show.😉
Thank you.
I know. :)
I didn't even get to the front (tourist) views of the city.

Good afternoon. I want to show you a little more of Petersburg.

0-IMG-20230701-153101.jpg

Petersburg is called the Venice of the North or the City of Bridges. And it's not just that. 93 rivers, rivulets, branches, or canals flow through St. Petersburg. More than 800 bridges have been built across them, 218 of them are completely pedestrian.
There are small bridges across the river in the park.

There are huge wide bridges on which fairs are located or there are monuments, like this monument to Emperor Nicholas the First.

I myself love bridges over small rivers in the historic center of the city. I already showed you one lion's bridge, here's another one.

There are also all sorts of engineering designs.

When embankments are being restored in St. Petersburg, the stones are numbered so that later they can be laid in the same order.

One of the mandatory tasks for students of art schools in the summer practice is to draw one of the bridges of St. Petersburg.

In summer, you can often see such a bridge in the city.

And, as always, the dog at the end. today there are three. :)

Thank you. Probably the closest I'll ever get to visiting there.

So I went for a Deka, and hated the scales as much as I loved the rest of it, so I ordered some new ones. The results were... let's go with aesthetically suboptimal, but a functional improvement. Not sure what happened to the micarta, think it might be some sort of glue.

Going to run with it for now, at least it feels better. Also I had a surprising amount of difficulty reassembling it; not sure why, it isn't that complicated. Just took forever to get the pivot seated.

Спасибо! Thanks for the tour and the memories. I have been to Peter a couple of times, November 2019 and again November 2021. Unfortunately, the only photo I have with a knife in it is of a steak knife from dinner at Oldham pub on Набережая Мойки. (probably not worth posting here :p)

Thank you for sharing your city with us.

Spent the afternoon finishing up a project from last weekend. Needed to build a couple desks with shelves, and a table for the middle of the room.

Mrs. Wyatt wanted a round table, so I built a jig for the router and cut the table.

View attachment 2240094

Shelves and drawers painted, just need to paint the table legs.

Done for the day. Pork butt is on the smoker and it is time to relax. Happy 4th everyone.

I had considered carrying my F3 Python for Micarta Monday after seeing last week's post at the Bears' Den from our friend J jfk1110 prodding me to put up a pic of that knife (I did this morning). I went with the CruCarta PM2 instead as I ended up working upstairs from from the woodshop in our combination home gym/basketball league & club world headquarters, replacing the dysfunctional old fluorescent lights with LEDs. When my late father-in-law did the wiring there he passed on the more expensive cold weather lights and the old ballasts have been crapping out anyway. I did the same thing a few years back downstairs as 5 corded LED 4-footers are cheap enough, you can through-put up to 4 of them, and I simply converted the old switched feed to a duplex outlet.

We put the window AC unit in upstairs there first thing as it's unfinished/uninsulated and gets wicked toasty in the summer. (The downstairs is built into a bank, over 50% below grade, staying cooling in the hot months, but a window AC run on dry keeps the condensation at bay down there). Anyway, it was still pretty hot working upstairs on a step ladder, I was definitely in need of a shower when finished, and the PM2 darkened quite a bit and could use a bath too now.

Before...

...and after. It does look kinda cool splotchy, though. Maybe next time for a bath.

I do really like this PM2 version with the full liners.
