EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Gerry McGinnis ProLine Valve today. I wanted one of these for quite a while, felt lucky to find one on the Exchange for a fair price some time back, and really should carry it more often. This one came to me with an wicked sharp, refined original edge, probably executed by Gerry's dad IIRC. Despite its passe reputation, I've always liked 154CM for its easy sharpen-ability to a very keen edge. This was my first in CPM154 and should take that formulation to an even higher level, though this blade has yet to be re-sharpened.

It's funny how you don't notice something on a knife until you check out a pic or two you've snapped. I saw what I thought was an blade edge burr in the pic below, but after looking and feeling carefully it turned out to be nothing at all. Maybe just an odd reflection off the stone below....

I'd never participated in a time-sensitive drop before, but have kept an eye out for another Les George for a long time and figured I'd take a shot at the DLT release of the VECP Morph button lock as it seems a good mid-size and I like milled all Ti knives a lot. As the drop was today, this made it a Want it Wednesday.

I had my Les George Eagle out for support and luck while I watched the counter go down on the product page, making this a Wilson Combat Wednesday too.

I was all ready to score my new knife--signed in, made sure my payment info and address was correct, and was sitting on the counter. The second "add to cart" showed, I clicked through all the screens, hit submit, and the knives were gone. Couldn't have taken me a minute. What a Wednesday Waste.

I'd lubed the Eagle's Teflon-washered pivot with TriFlow, added a little FinishLine to the detent ball, and slab shifted to improve centering the night before without garnering any improvement, though that work did add a little click to the lock release. I've always really loved this knife, but it's always been a little fussy and not the greatest flipper. After whiffing on the VECP, I untied the Eagle's lanyard, gave it a thorough cleaning, carefully re-lubed, re-assembled, re-shifted the handle slabs, and re-tied the lanyard. The centering is dead-on and the knife is now super smooth and flips lightly, free and easy--better than it ever has. It's almost like having a new knife--a favorite that's even better--and I still have my 450 bucks. What a Wow Wednesday!

Sorry to hear you missed out on the button lock. Don’t give up, it’s well worth the patience. The action on it is amazing as to be expected.

Funny cause I actually pulled out my eagle this morning and thought about carrying it but realized the blade was off center. Plan on fixing it when I get home. Love that thing.

Thanks to my good friend R Raj from out west, he had some things needed done and I obliged him and got this nice CJRB Pyrite folder.

And one thing about Button locks...it's really hard to release the liner lock on them...especially when there is no liner lock on them! but, muscle memory keeps me pushing against the solid frame, colour me silly ;)
