EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Sorry to hear you missed out on the button lock. Don’t give up, it’s well worth the patience. The action on it is amazing as to be expected.

Funny cause I actually pulled out my eagle this morning and thought about carrying it but realized the blade was off center. Plan on fixing it when I get home. Love that thing.
Thank for the commiseration, Mitch. I still do want another of Les's knives, but at this point am neither overly disappointed in missing out on the button lock VECP nor sold on that being my first choice model of his. As I've mentioned before to you, I still kick myself for not purchasing a WC Talon back when they were readily available as I'm a big fan of the Wilson Combat collabs with top makers with their signature Starburst milling. I tend to like bigger knives, and the plain LG Talos would be of interest as well.

The VECP is, to me, a mid-sized knife which is OK in my book as I do often carry my re-scaled or upgraded Griptilians and others of similar size. The main attraction for me on the knife I missed, aside from being a Les George, was the Morph slabs as I'm more than a little fond of milled Ti handles both for grip and appearance.

Given your predilection for Les's work, I'm guessing you must have a VECP frame lock flipper too. How would you compare that to the button lock model?

While I'm carrying a different knife today, I still got my WC Eagle out to play with while I read and post here. Whatever down I might have felt at falling short at the drop yesterday was more than offset by the huge success I had in tuning my Eagle afterwards. The best I ever had the action on it was just ok (lower case intended). Noticing a slight flat spot while cleaning, I think it must have had a slightly rolled edge on one of the Teflon washers and I very carefully worked it outward radially with my fingers before re-installing, lubing with my liquid TriFlow needle applicator. That, and my current practice of loading the detent ball hole with FinishLine before reassembling has the knife super smooth and flying out easily and better than any other washered flipper I have.:thumbsup:

Ha, I do have the vecp flipper in the morp scales. While I like it very much I prefer the thumb stud versions on pb washers. While the flipper flys out n will drop shut with a slight flick, the thumb studs perform exactly the same but just have that hydraulic feel that the flipper doesn’t. In full disclosure I do prefer washers over bearings though.

As far as the button lock, the blade just flys around when the button is pushed. It flys open with a thumb flick and almost seems to close automatically with a little help from gravity.

As far as the best action on all of them, surprisingly, and hands down the mk3.

Considering its all just my opinion, I think you will find yourself happy with any of the above and buying more! 😉

I’m a sucker for a couple of those YouTube ”reviewers”. I saw positive reviews on this one from two guys who never agree on virtually anything, so I immediately ordered it. And I gotta agree with them…..IMO it is a great ”budget” offering. Kizer seems to be doing a lot right lately.
Right on man, yeah that's a really innovative design. I've really only seen under a handful of synthetic integrals in g10, carbon fiber, etc. I think that's the first integral g10 in particular I've seen though. I agree on Kizer. When I got my first Kizer I wasn't expecting much because I took a long break in knives and when I left, the only chinese company making real quality knives (imo) was Reate, and they really only had the District 9. But when I got that Kizer I was just completely blown away by the fit and finish. I kept thinking that there must have been something I was missing in it's quality or construction and it'd rear it's ugly head soon, but they never have. They are certified really good knives in my eyes.

I saw this knife in a mailing list and went to the store. I wanted to hold it in my hands. I didn't like the blade. It tapers towards the handle. If you cut with a knife on a horizontal surface, then only 20% of the blade near the tip works.
Ooh I know what you mean. Yeah that can be a pain in the arse in some cases for sure. Playing devil's advocate though, that slight (almost) recurved blade (without the full transition) can be handy for kind of pulling the material you're cutting into the blade when you go to whittle or something like that. Either way, I'm glad that most of us have an assortment of different options to choose from and use. 🍻

Totally agree. I'm carrying a Civivi today (pics after cigar time) but even with a huge EDC rotation and changing it up for silly pic sharing, I find myself with a Kizer in my pocket at least half the time.

The first one where the action knocked the socks off my feet was the Clutch. There have been a lot of great examples recently but the full-sized Sheepsfoot Domin remains the best stock action I've ever had straight from a box. I've since done some tinkering and upgraded to Skiff bearings. Now it might be the best I own and it was all-day less than $100.

Throwback TerzDay, working on that Pro-Tech ATCF the last week made me want to knock the dust off Microtech's dual action spin on Bob Terzuola's iconic design...the Advanced Tactical Combat Folder really was a game changer in the folding knife world😎

Reading your post, I looked down at the picture and now I have to wipe drool off of the screen 😉
