EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Thought this would be the perfect carry today

Changed knives. Why? Because I'm a clever dumbass. Apparently, after hiding my PM2 in my shirt pocket in my checked bags, I changed my mind and hid it in a battery box for my RC truck. Just found it moments ago. Woohoo! I hid it so well that even after thoroughly tossing the contents of my bag, the TSA didn't find it, nor did I! Took me 17 days to find it! I'm still pissed that TSA went through my bag and left my clothes balled up and crammed.

Today was a roofing day. With clear and more comfortable weather through next week and my buddy available to work we may actually finish this seemingly never-ending project in the coming days. That it's taken so long has a lot to do with the complexity I built into the original structure over 40 years ago--a red-cedar roof on strapping with no roof deck--and the need to replace everything including insulation in captured bays, re-coursing new strapping, and a fair amount of custom copper flashing and sacrificial strips in addition to all the stripping and re-shingling.

Anyway, today's work knife was my beloved original 710, a piece that I've put a lot of work into restoring and improving. All of that makes it quite dear to me plus there's just something about this iconic design that I find incredibly appealing. It's got a certain utilitarian, practical vibe to it that says use me! Despite having many much more expensive, higher-tech knives, and the the fact it's far from being in pristine condition, this one is very close to the top of my keepers list.

The very cool pattern of the holes milled out in the steel liners shows nicely since I replaced the original rudely hacked-out backspacer. 710's look great with the holes milled through, too, like Keyman Keyman did on the Ironwood scales he made for my -1401.

It took me several sharpenings to correct the horrid job done by the knife's original owner. I finally gave it a 15 DPS re-profile with a 20 DPS micro-bevel and the 710's D2 blade is one wicked good cutter now.

One last pic and comment here--blame woodysone woodysone 's kind words yesterday for getting me going. I went into the kitchen after working to touch up the 710's micro-bevel, my wife was cleaning up the table, and I offered to remove my SharpMaker and gear that's been there for a week. She said it was fine to leave it and promptly plopped down her AXIS Mini Stryker in front of me. If there was a dictionary listing for knife-edge-abuser her pic would be there, but the SM's diamonds, browns, and whites made quick work of her 154CM and it's good to go for at least a while now.

I took my family to a family reunion. I wore sport shorts and shorts and had the Native clipped to the inside of my wasteband. I played pickleball for at least two hours and it didn’t move a bit.

This an underrated carry method, especially where scary knives may be frowned upon.

No pic for now, but you’ve seen it before.
