EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Tropical Storm Lee has come and gone, the eye making landfall on the southern tip of Nova Scotia just about now. The winds and rainfall weren't as bad as anticipated, the worst having largely passed us out to sea, though our yard's now full of green leaves and sticks. There's probably some coastal damage along the beaches from the big surf and storm surge but we seem to have escaped any major catastrophes here.

I went with an old favorite today that I acquired some years back for a very reasonable price after it was discontinued. I haven't carried it for a little while and I gave it a touch up on the SharpMaker as its toothy factory edge seemed to have lost its bite. I was surprised that it was sharpened at 15 DPS and swiped it at 20 to give it a nice little micro-bevel using just the stock browns and whites. The action was a little gummy too and I was additionally surprised to discover the knife ran on nylon or teflon washers after lubing with W10 NanoOil, so I flushed it out with isopropyl, gave it an overall bath with Dawn and warm water, then re-lubed after drying it with liquid TriFlow from a needle dispenser along with my usual dab of FinishLine on the detent ball. The action's smooth and free again and the 4 mm thick VG10 blade is pretty damn sharp.

Wow, that’s an absolute beauty!

Is it weird that for a moment I pictured me and that knife going on a date, and I mean just me and the knife, nobody else…..and it kinda felt right?

Yeah, I’m spending way too much time looking at knife pics. Now that I think about how that date might’ve ended I’m even creeping myself out.

Bahahaha. But seriously, that’s a gorgeous knife.

Making the best of Summer's End. Never really needed shoes and never ventured past the park across the street to toss the ball with the kids a bit. Weather was pleasant but warm enough to enjoy some iced tea on the back deck. Carry was the Sebenza and Compact, plus made use of the Victorinox Wine Master that DLT and our much appreciated mail lady (on foot) were kind enough to rush to my door this morning

I was looking in my box o' old knives, from years ago, today for something when I came across these guys and decided they'd make a perfect pair for the next couple evenings. This old school Muela fixed blade is really cool. It has an aluminum guard that works well to lock your fingers in, in a few different positions. It's a lot like a Sharpfinger, but tickles my fancy a bit more. One hell of a skinner this one! And then I got the old school Kershaw lockback with rubber handle, made in Japan. I was surprised because I haven't done anything with either of these for at least 10 years and yet they were both way sharper than I'd imagine they could be. I literally stropped the Kershaw, 2 strokes on each side and it's poppin hairs off the ol' arm.

Awesome views! I was just up there for a week a month and a half ago. What lake is that if you don't mind me asking? At first I figured it'd be one of the big 3 Swift, Merwin, or Yale. However that lake looks way higher up than any of those. Is that on the North side of the mountain? I haven't explored much on that side.
