Tropical Storm Lee has come and gone, the eye making landfall on the southern tip of Nova Scotia just about now. The winds and rainfall weren't as bad as anticipated, the worst having largely passed us out to sea, though our yard's now full of green leaves and sticks. There's probably some coastal damage along the beaches from the big surf and storm surge but we seem to have escaped any major catastrophes here.
I went with an old favorite today that I acquired some years back for a very reasonable price after it was discontinued. I haven't carried it for a little while and I gave it a touch up on the SharpMaker as its toothy factory edge seemed to have lost its bite. I was surprised that it was sharpened at 15 DPS and swiped it at 20 to give it a nice little micro-bevel using just the stock browns and whites. The action was a little gummy too and I was additionally surprised to discover the knife ran on nylon or teflon washers after lubing with W10 NanoOil, so I flushed it out with isopropyl, gave it an overall bath with Dawn and warm water, then re-lubed after drying it with liquid TriFlow from a needle dispenser along with my usual dab of FinishLine on the detent ball. The action's smooth and free again and the 4 mm thick VG10 blade is pretty damn sharp.
