EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

So, having gotten involved in a discussion in another thread the other day with a couple friends here about the relative merit of using certain steels in mid-hundreds-priced knives, I set off to embark on several days' carry of knives that I like a lot and carry with "lesser" or more dated steels such as Saturday's 440C, or some such as ATS34 or 154CM (yesterday it was CPM154). Today finds me with a steel that's perhaps a bit more modern and certainly more ubiquitous in S30V, not considered remotely high-end anymore, but sort of a standard in many knives from Spyderco and more recently Benchmade.

This is a knife that's easily in my top ten of those I own and was mentioned, un-named, in that discussion the other day. It's an SRBS Shiro F3 that would be priced new in today's market at around seven-fifty (close to what I paid LNIB in 2016), sporting S30V steel. The heat treat is great, the knife cuts like a demon, and it holds its edge well enough. I've got no problem with it's blade steel at all, considering that today's more pedestrian steels were once yesterday's super-steels and their qualities haven't diminished over the years.

Okay, I’ll be honest. In hindsight, telling my wife that it’s perfectly normal to match a knife to a hat and that everybody does it was kinda lame. I deserved whatever it was she muttered under her breath as she shook her head and walked away.

But it sounded so convincing in my head I think I actually believed it myself for a minute.
