EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

So after following up norcalAF norcalAF 's quote of my earlier post yesterday, here's a more direct example of different carry situations for two knives, variations of the same model, pocketed separately on the same day as I moved from one sort of task to another. The change was made not out of necessity but more as a demonstration of what I was getting at.

I took my work user Shiro F95 over to the wood shop to work on the wood sash that I reglazed and to finish sanding the pair this morning. The Turtle has been a favorite user since I got it and bears scuffs and scratches from quite a few years working, though Shiro's excellent finish obscures them in pics to a considerable degree. My wife came over and asked if I'd head out with her to Ocean State JobLot so I changed and tagged along to both help and keep her company as well as to follow up with an errand of my own. I switched up to my F95R, which I keep nicer, for the trip. There wasn't anything wrong with keeping the Turtle on me, I was just thinking of demonstrating the point I made yesterday by carrying two versions of the same model in different situations--one for work and the other in a lighter, more EDC role. Both knives got used at least a couple times, BTW, and yes, the 95R does have a couple light marks on it and only the scuffs on the Turtle's clip show up below and not the blade or handle scratches on both sides. 🤷‍♂️

Pics of the pair after we got home...

The pic is from last night. After “the incident”. We had a bday party in the evening for my now 6-year-old. We had a bunch of his little buddies and their parents over. His aunts , uncles and cousins were all in attendance. I let my other boys each invite a friend. I was grilling up a storm (usually I’m a disaster cooking but last night I was in the zone). My wife made a huge cake which looked incredible. The kids were all playing nice together and everyone was getting along and having a good time. And then it was time for cake and presents. The bday boy was full of excitement , he could barely sit still. As he rifled through each gift , my wife was right behind him cleaning up the carnage of wrapping paper and bows. Then he comes to his grandmother’s presents. A special controller for PS5 and some soccer jerseys he’s been obsessing over (Messi and Mbappe). He’s beyond thrilled. So much , in fact , that he just blurts things out. So we tell him to thank his grandmother for the nice gifts and he does. Then follows it up with “…even though she’s a chain-smoking freak show.” Then looks at me and says “Right dad?”. I thought I went deaf because it was completely silent aside from my sister-in-law who was trying to conceal her laughter. Everyone is looking at me. I was cleaning the grill as my face was getting hot and turning a light shade of magenta. Needless to say , I tried to diffuse the situation as did my wife. He must have heard me talking to his mother earlier that day and chose to repeat it word-for-word right when he had a big enough audience. So the night ended on an iffy note. But my wife and I laughed about it when everyone left. As for the 6-year-old , he’s not even aware that anything happened. He was just excited. So brunch today with the family (including his grandmother) should be fun 😑 Have a good Sunday , everyone.
