EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

48 years on this Earth for me today. My eldest kiddo offered to take us out to supper, but instead I opted to just have her get some things for me to throw on the grill for us all. She came through with some nice steaks and a few Sockeye filets for some surf&turf 😋. She also brought a watermelon with a request that I make some agua fresca, to which I'm gonna add some of our own blueberries since they are plentiful in the garden at the moment. So I'll just be chillin' around the pad with the family, listening to tunes, and making that today.

Carrying a favorite for the morning, along with wearing a birth-year timex that seemed fitting for the day. I may switch it up at some point, and I hope to get some pics up from the past few days as well, as it's been a fun weekend

Happy birthday!
Fun and joy to your home! :)

How are you liking the Vault? Thats a good looking blade!

Finally got power back Saturday evening after a week without here in Spring, Texas due to Hurricane Beryl. Being kicked back to the stone age wasn’t fun especially in the hottt Houston summer and am grateful to have electricity again!

Took this week off and working on the backup ride as my old daily work truck is unhappy and gone south. Still carrying the Spiro since it came in last Wednesday and really liking it! Nice and thin stock and geometry on the 20CV blade with good ergos and action. The Ti Ashers are OEM by Kunwu and it shows.

It's a sweet blade. VERY smooth action. Awesome ergos too.

There’s something so satisfying about playing in the dirt no mater what comes up🤔. Was cussing out the hot weather until I marked the height of the tomatoes and watched how they grew in just a day🤗 cucumbers also like the warmth
Heck yea, I agree Martin! There's nothing like playing in the dirt. Ya know, something I realized this year is that if you "wash" your hands using mud, your hands will come out smoother than you've probably ever felt them. It's actually pretty crazy. I recommend everyone to try it. Just wash your hands with dirt from a mole hill or something and spray them off with the hose. I even rubbed mud all over my feet and lower legs a couple times as well 😅. I don't care about any beauty type smoothness, it's just amazing how smooth it feels, plus it gets rid of the dead skin and I think moisturizes it as well. So yes, I agree about playing in the dirt haha. 🍻

Good to hear your tomatoes and cucumbers are doing well! I always like seeing pics of them. My sunflowers that I transplanted yesterday are still looking very sad at the moment. They were just all germinated from sunflower seeds that fell out from under the birdfeeder, but I think it was just too hot yesterday and I didn't get enough of the root ball to keep them moist enough and it was just too much of a shock for the poor little guys.

Yesterday evening had me retrieving another somewhat similar knife from my stash for comparison's sake next to the Cheburkov Leader I'd had with me Saturday and Sunday. The Shirogorov 111 is also a long and pointy Russian piece with a two CF slab handle and is a liner lock. On the other hand, it's longer and pointier while being considerably weightier and it has a fairly full, though nested, liner on the locking side. It also retains its extensive (and handsome) backspacer, which I've never remotely considered trying to remove as I like it a lot despite my general preference for open back construction.

I spent some time years back getting this one tuned up to my liking and it's been wicked smooth and snappy since, losing its original whooshing sound when opening, and drops shut with just the right amount of hydraulic-like damping. It wasn't the best choice for b-ball shorts carry as I dressed lightly today, but it didn't pull my pants down and was ok with two hands in and one hand out just hanging around the house, shop, and yard.
