Hi BF! It's been almost 2 years but I'm back and happy to be posting again. Haven't had access to any of my knives or edc gear so been cleaning and oiling it all and suiting back up. Went big today, just bought my first house and been renovating it to get up to par. Missed y'all and great to be back to the community I love!

I've missed most of this week's edc's ....saw some luv from woodysone woodysone earlier.... Thanks!!!

I love seeing That. :D. I hope that kitchen knife is still Sharp

Last year around this time, I made my current EDC, I show it off whenever I can...ha.
I'm really happy with it.
But I've been wondering about Other knives. And I make myself knives that's others may not want, so I started to make Another.... I never own an asymmetrical ground blade, and I don't like how most of them are done....so I want to make my version, and see what they are like?

It's set up for right hand users.
This one I made from a preexisting blank of 8670 at 60HRC.

I can be hard on knives, and I want it to be a User.
I chopped, battoned, cut, scraped, feather sticked for a bit.... Geometry wise idk why they aren't more popular??? It seems like they have some advantages....

I still need scales, and finishing touches, but I think This is going to be my next edc for awhile?

*Edit:
From initial usage.....
It works Really well. Better than I expected!
I think sharpens pretty well, not too bad, kinda weird, but not too bad.

Only negatives I see (so far)
I think I need Harder steel? This is 60, I think I'd like this knife a tiny bit harder?
I say that because I'm fighting a burr....a harder, or maybe a "crisper" steel might not give me an issue, idk?

Stropping/steeling on its face side is going to leave minor scratches. For people who like pretty, safe queens, I think that's an issue. They won't stay brand new looking.

I'm Not an expert with 8670. I'll admit that.
I have a few that I'm very happy with. Also my kitchen chef knife is 8670, and I really like it in that role. But it's 64HRC.... It's crisp and Bitey. Sharp.

I also think this being a "chisel edge"..... They inherently don't have their edges protected as much as a conventional edge....again, just a hypothesis?
I think it's easier to hide a burr with a normal edge...

I've read posts from some makers Here who said they didn't like this type of grind, because it's cheating, too easy to make, cutting corners, simple" etc. etc.

They are Wrong!

I've been on this edge, forever. :/
Not, easy to make.

*sorry for the drawn out rant, I should move This topic to the Makers area......
-although I'd LOVE to hear from user who love or hate Asymmetrical grinds, let's start a new thread?

That is awesome!

This Wingman Spark was probably the 4th or 5th knife I bought after getting bit by the bug a few years ago. When it arrived, it was the smallest blade in my collection; but it quickly became a favorite and “sparked” my preference for smaller knives. I still love this one.

Happy Friday folks!! Man, I love the weekend. I anticipate a fun one with family.

After seeing all the “avocado” knives from Spyderco…I decided to make my own “Avocado” Bugout! Oh ya.

Stay safe this weekend, friends…but have loads of fun!

Yesterday's carry came from the front of the left-hand side of the American mid-tech drawer where I keep 3 SHF's, moving back through a bunch of RHK's, and finishing with a knife each from a number of noted USA makers. I started at the back handling my Strider SnG, then the McGinnis Pro-Line Valve, almost pocketing my TRM/RJ Martin MEFP Machine Flipper, moved on through the Southard Tolk, and finally selected a favorite work user in the Wilson Combat Les George Eagle.

I picked this up off the Exchange in 2016 and spent a long time trying to get the action where I wanted it. After struggling with it for a while I wrote to Les who very graciously told me to send it in and he'd make it right, but shortly afterward I found that a couple drops of TriFlow to each Teflon washer smoothed the action out nicely and had the knife flipping acceptably, so I never took Les up on his offer. Just last year I was doing a routine disassembly/cleaning and discovered that one of the washers had an almost imperceptible, tiny folded-over edge roll ("wait--what's that little flat spot?"). I was able to flatten it out--would have alternatively cut it off--lubed the washers as usual, and now the blade flips out quickly and easily. 😧 Only took me seven years....

I just love how thin this one is for being such a good-sized, solid knife.
