At the mouth of the Neva River, before it flows into the Gulf of Finland, there are several islands connected by pedestrian and automobile bridges. I walked on two of them today.

The first island is called Kamenny. Before the collapse of the Russian Empire, there were summer homes of wealthy nobles here.

Many houses in the Art Nouveau style.

The second island is called Elagin. It belonged entirely to the imperial family.

In the early 19th century, a palace complex was built here for Empress Maria Feodorovna (mother of Emperors Alexander I and Nicholas I, and niece of the Prussian King Frederick the Great).

Testing out the reprofiled edge on the candiru, and I like it a lot better than the factory edge. It's a fun little knife, but I don't quite understand what it's designed for or how useful it really is. I look forward to continuing to test it though.

I keep looking at this one. Beautiful knife. I think I need one.
It’s a cool blade, although comparing to the original, Spyderco did make some changes that are worth mentioning. Retains the thin stock now upgraded in Cruwear, although it’s a flat grind instead of the hollow grind. The handle is much thinner also and flat slabbed with a little rounding on the edges, similar to say a liner lock kershaw leek, but even thinner.

The handle spine is nice looking with the flush fitted full ss treatment. The liners are not skeletonized though which makes it closer to 3.4 oz rather than the 2.5 oz of the OG and what Ive seen it listed as. The scales are thin so it’s hard to tell but they look to be laminate “CF” rather than weave CF. They are slicker and not as nice looking. I may knock the sheen off for a matte look and feel.

Wish they woulda kept the hollow grind, handle thickness, and skeletonized the liners. Woulda preferred matte full weave CF scales also, but I do like it and am happy it was released. Overall, it is a nice upgrade from the OG and mine is very smooth. Think I’ll carry it again today!
