Nice job.Replacing the thermostat in my vehicle. It's had coolant running through it for over 20 years without changing the thermostat or radiator. Got most of the old gasket cleaned up off both surfaces (not shown). Just need to finish the job off with some solvent and then throw the new gasket in with a thin layer of Permatex Ultra Grey on both metal surfaces and both sides of the gasket. Everyone seems to do gaskets differently. Some put their RTV like substance on just one side of the gasket, some do it just on the metal surfaces, my pops (who I'm super thankful to have still) says I should put it on all 4 surfaces, so that's what I plan to do. I'm sure some of you all do it differently and I'm open to any advice.
Man, it's too bad that memories, knowledge, and wisdom don't continue on to the next generations. Imagine where we'd be as a civilization if that were the case. We're losing a lot of the knowledge from our past generations in this modern day and age.

I've always said that when an old person dies, it's like a library burned down. There's a lot of information that is lost forever. Think about it. Even someone who we think is really dumb, knows something that I don't.Man, it's too bad that memories, knowledge, and wisdom don't continue on to the next generations. Your 'Rant' is absolutely truth, spot-on!I've always said that when an old person dies, it's like a library burned down. There's a lot of information that is lost forever. Think about it. Even someone who we think is really dumb, knows something that I don't.
I think it's amazing that everyone walks around with a smart phone in their pocket. A device that basically gives a person access to all the information in the world. Right at their fingertips, but I've never seen so many stupid people in my life!
Sorry for the rant. Here's a picture of a couple knives that I'm carrying today.

I don't know about all that but you've clearly got too much mustard in there.Replacing the thermostat in my vehicle.
