EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

This thing is such a reassuring knife. It's rapidly become one of my favorites.

We pretty took it easy today after something of a clean-up marathon yesterday in the aftermath of the Monday's nor'easter. I brought in a bit more wood and mixed up a couple gallons of fuel for our little 2-cycle cycle generator. I had the Hati with me again this morning, but you've seen plenty of that, so here's the SHF Flourishes I switched to for just hanging around the house and keeping the fire going this afternoon.

C’mon man, don’t leave us hanging. There’s a story there right?
Yes. I did a floor job for Reagan's conservator of 30 years. From Governor through presidency. Reagan was gifted the knife from Mr Buck. He gave it to my client who knew I loved knives. He said ive held onto this until I found the right person to give it to. It's a longer story but that sums it up. I was honored.

That is awesome enough as is, thank you!

Back in the eighties as a young soldier, I was detailed from my armor company out to drive for the battalion commander, a Lieutenant Colonel who had at one point been assigned in DC as an aid to Ronald Reagan. He said RR was generally beloved by everyone who had been assigned to his staff because he was so down to earth, kind, and genuine to all on his staff.

As an aside to your story, when I was done with this detail, the colonel gifted me a U.S. Army marked K-bar knife as was his custom to all his drivers. I have no idea what ever happened to that knife but I wish I still had it.

Reagan was very well liked by his staff. My client was called Reagan's cowboy and that's how he got his knife. Its a shame you can't find that k-bar. Those are awesome knives and that had a special meaning also.
