Amazing what happens when you take an already outstanding design, then upgrade the materials of construction.

Bought it on release and added some Micarta scales last year. Detent is perfect and the lock works perfectly! Love it

I've been away a while but apparently I've been with you in spirit :
Been carrying these two (Spyderco Endela mod kind of like the blade on your Barlow) .
I've been re-rediscovering my Griptillian . Nearly the perfect knife for me .

I have my third Gayle Bradley 2 inbound in the mail .
I'll be doing a little change to it as well .

I'll always have a soft spot for the Griptilian, a gifted 154cm green with black blade started me in the hobby. It was a serrated blade and I eventually sent it in for this plain edge, and got Alan Putman peel ply g10 scales for it. The original blade was beat to all shit. One of my least favorites in my collection but carried the most and will never sell. I have a nicer one with the sheepsfoot now and iGorded scales that I also won't sell

I love the way Spyderco does their FFG's. Just pure slicey goodness!

I guess you could say I've been taking my passion for FFG to an unhealthy level .
2mm at the spine and behind the edge is around 0.009 inch .

My third GB 2 is in the mail .
Can you tell from the clue I left you as to it's fate ?
cue sound of maniacal laughter .

(the upper most line . . . Spydie hole will be removed entirely ; just the area with the jimpping will remain . Will still be able to thumb it open . If I do it right I will be able to wave it open with a conscious effort .

Here, they predicted 60 mph gusts. I’ve been in the field since 3 pm and have tackled just one large outage. Now my buddy and I are parked by my favorite port-o-shitter waiting for the phone to ring again. Double time ‘til 11pm, regardless.

im really fighting the urge to go buy a GB 2, i still havent tried one but they sound like the safest bet of all time. super beloved. and SDK makes some nice micarta scales for it. RIP wallet

This last year I have been messing about with all kinds of tool steels (using them , reprofiling the edges , using them somemore , dulling them and resharpening them) from K390 to REX 121 . . . Maxamet etc. . . .
I keep coming back to M4 as " My Steel " . It is a bit tougher for my crazy thin blades that I enjoy and I appreciate how it holds the extra sharp edge after some use , where as the 9% or more Vanadium guys just drop off to a "working edge" too fast for me . Sure they still cut like crazy . . . but I can tell the difference and I like M4 .

Twice this week I had talked myself out of getting another GB2 . . . then I came up with the : I-need-to-do-another-mod . . . ploy and since the GB2 has been discontinued I had the perfect excuse to get it right now .
Basic bottom line is I'm concerned M4 is going away and I want a good bit of Spyderco M4 in my possession when it does .
