I had my lockbar modded for more access, love it now. The liner on the show side was brought back to be flush with the scale and chamfered inside, and I had the texture on the lockbar smoothed out and heavily chamfered. Polished to match the oem finish, looks like it could come from the factory

Looks good! I disassembled when adding scales to add ceramic ball and enlarge detent hole! Didn’t touch cutout as I’ve not had a problem with access, but did smooth out the lock bar ridges! Love this knife!

very cool, did you put a larger ball in? or just enlarge the hole. thats interesting i would like to feel how different it is

Replaced the ball with same size ceramic! Some of the Taichung Spyderco models have a lighter detent than I prefer! Because the ball sits proud of the hole, you can tune the detent strength, by enlarging the hole with tapered diamond bit! A little at a time and you can mod to your liking! IMG_0030.jpeg

I have little to add that others have not said, and nothing will make today any better, but you are doing the right thing. He looks like a good fella and at some point soon it will not hurt so much to remember the good times. Condolences.
