EDCing a fixed blade; share your experiences!

I don't like EDC'ng a fixed blade unless it's "pocketable," just because I want to avoid the unwanted attention a knife visible on the belt has the potential to bring. Having said that, a knife in a pocketsheath is less accessible/slower to deploy compared to a knife in a pancake or crossdraw sheath like some posted in this thread. As in most things, it all comes down to personal preference.

Again may I ask what are the bottom four knives? Look fantastic!

Below the BlindHorseKnives Bushbay are the following:

Wilson (damascus) gorgeous
Bailey (very nice hamon)
Dave Ferry of HorseWright Clothing and Tack (sterling silver bolster)
Alan Davis...an artist in fixed blades and folders

To update the thread:

I bought an Esee Izula on a whim. Wasn't sure how I was going to EDC this but I figured it was cheap and if nothing else I could use it for other tasks or sell it if EDCing a fixed blade didn't work out. Man am I glad I bought this little knife. It came razor sharp and I really enjoy it. I have carried it around the house in my shorts (super light), as well as blue jeans (pocket, watch pocket, and horizontal on my belt), and even in my khakis (pocket). It's working really well. I have also bought an Izula II to try.

I would love to EDC a fixed blade. I'd like a beautiful hand decorated leather holster for my Glock. However I'm built like a Sumo wrestler. I haven't been under 200 lbs since I was 13. Stylish jeans with a belt just don't work for me. Sweats gym shorts sports gear make me need a clip on folder.
Right now my favorite fixed blade is the Warrior.

I will EDC a comfortable fixed blade up to 4". Currently my favorites are:

--Original '70's Tekna Ocean Edge dive knife--a classic; always my favorite urban or watersport fixed EDC since I was a pup. Maintenance-free and a terrific lock-in sheath for odd carry placements. Also a perfect handle for intricate leather or para-wrap if desired...did mine in leather...also parawrapped the open part of the sheath.
--Original DPx HEST fixed blade by Rowen--just a blast of a knife. Now re-released by DPx; tough, super-handy pry bar on the handle saves the tip from prying stresses/breakage. Good for knockaround carry anywhere.
--TOPS/Buck CSAR Liason--good small knife; the best, lightest, inconspicuous small-knife horizontal carry package (with the addition of two cable ties through the Kydex sheath grommets) I've ever come across. Also--pocketable as is.
--BK-11 san mai--just because of what it is. Another classic. The factory sheath at the time sucked though.
--Gryphon M-10 with boltaron sheath--simply a great Terzuola-design knife and VERY comfortable, solid carry package anywhere on the belt. Probably the most secure and comfortable-in-any-grip handle of any of my knives, period. Tipped to me last year by a member's post here.

Couple of runners up/on deck:
--Bradford Guardian 3
--Hinderer Flashpoint

Another vote here for the fact that a good sheath is the key.

Charleston, SC - Hot and sticky most year round. During the "Winter" months when wearing jeans I carry a fixed blade of no more than 3". Most times I may have it in my shorts or cotton shirt pocket. I am waiting on my Dart from Evans Knife and tool as it comes with a Kydex neck carry sheath.

I prefer cross draw with smallish EDC sized blades. Concealed or Openly carried and no one bats an eye. I've only been questioned once and it was by someone genuinely interested in who made my knife and where they could get one. (Sorry for the crotch shots)

I carry fixed blades for edc, sometimes more often than folders. Everything with kydex like that:

I've been carrying a BK11 in it's factory sheath in my left rear pocket ever since I got it in Oct 2013.

My EDC fixed blades are either paired Kabar 1232s (4" hunters) or paired Kabar shorties (125x-126x - 5.25") in factory plastic or self made leather sheaths and are typically open carried at the 3/4/5 - 7/8/9 position. Unlike California, open or concealed doesn't matter, but length and type do. <5.5" and single-edged. Outer wear covering doesn't come into play.

I've been EDCing my fixed blades for so long, I don't even notice anything "getting in the way", seat belts, chairs, etc. I don't even notice when I shift them around as necessary. The key is to be comfortable wearing them. Daily wear enhances comfortability.

The few times a LEO has said anything, it was to inquire as to what they were. On an average of about 1x every 2 weeks, a non-LEO may ask "Why 2?" or "Is that legal?" The "Why 2?" questions gets the "Grandfather's shirt sleeve hung in a combine" story. An "Is that legal?" question gets a short explanation of Texas knife laws. The extremely rare "Why do you carry a knife?" gets the "Why don't you carry one?" response. The even rarer "Why do you have a knife?" (this is Texas, remember:D) gets a "Why don't you?" with a shake of my head and a perfect view of my south end as I walk north.

Just to update the thread. I really enjoy EDCing a fixed. I have something on order now that I can't wait to get in. :)

I sometimes carry a small fixed blade in my pocket. I will carry an Izula as the sheath flies off with slight thumb pressure but is otherwise secure. I also carry a Kershaw 1082 Field Knife or a Buck 102 in the pocket of my Dockers/Kakis. The leather sheaths make them a bit slower, but I have more knife.

I feel naked without a fixed blade on the belt even though I have a large folder hanging on the other side of the belt. I will open carry fixed blades in the rural area, but when I have to go to town I keep it covered under clothing to avoid drawing attention. Sometimes I will carry anyways, and gray hair and aging keeps negative attention to a minimum.
