Edd Harbin

Melvin, I'm not saying it's about the money. It's about LAG thinking he was trading up, but then realizing that he might have traded down. Of course, this is in the estimation of someone who valued a used Commander at full street-retail and advertised it as NIB. That's called, umm, false advertising.

There are a bunch of comments here about Edd, including yours that Edd isn't an honorable dude and doesn't follow proper "deal" etiquette. Alot of folks around here are pretty consistent about jumping on the bandwagon of whoever posts a complaint here. I tend to jump on the bandwagon of the fellow getting sucker punched. In this case, that's Edd.

Now Cougar says that Edd is doing the right thing, which amounts to LAG getting a free Vespa. So the guy who grossly overstimates the value of a used Commander, and then whined about his lousy deal, gets a free knife. You folks might call that the right thing but it sounds kind of hosed to me.

There are two really great things about bladeforums. One is the information. The other is that anytime somebody whines and cries about a deal gone bad, you can always count on the same 3 or 4 people who are completely ignorant about the actual facts of the situation to jump right on the bandwagon and start bashing the allegedly evil, wicked, deceitful other party. This thread qualifies for the second form of greatness. Does that clear it up for you Mel?

And yes I think the ownership or the vastly overpaid moderators should do this...or find some other fool to do it

Dan, I was the fool who tried to do just that a couple of years ago. If anyone is so inclined, rather than start completely from scratch, you may want to review:
Please understand that I am no longer interested in getting involved in any such guidelines creation project. I do wish the very best of luck to anyone who wants to attempt it. Just don't ask me to help, OK? :D

I now have a firm understanding of 'exactly' what you meant.

Hopefully, all of your BFC/internet knife deals will be at least as successful as that of Edd and LAG's last one...

Thanks for the clarification.

All the best,

Mel

---more, after a few hours of thought---

HD, I think that most of us here can identify with the underdog. And I've said the same thing as you, in the past, that watching folks 'dogpile' someone really sucks. So, I hear ya bro, and I understand where you're coming from...from that standpoint.

But, I don't think that was the case here.

To wit; there are two very distinct camps here at BFC. The 1st being, "When both parties are satisfied, then the deal is done, everyone is happy, and life goes on. Those are the people that I refer to as 'knife enthusiasts'...and I'm in that camp, along with my friends here.

Then, there is the 2nd camp, the "We did the deal, and if he's not happy, too freaking bad" Those are the people that I consider to be rather self-centered, and those that I don't think really enjoy knives. They are the people that I refer to as "TV's or toasters, I don't care as long as it sells" people.

Group 2 people are the folks that I'd rather not do business with.

Anyhoo, I understand where you were coming from, and I agree with ya on the underdog part. It's the 'Group 2' stuff that I was having the heartburn with...ya know?

What the hey, it just makes my trading partner list shorter and more managable...lol

BOL,

Mel

...Thanks for the 'read'...I think your proposed guidelines were great!

I hope that more would read/reread them!

Thanks again,

Mel
