EDK knife with most discreet pocket clip?

Hey!
I have a BM mini grip that is my EDK, but I have just gotten a job where I wear slacks and a tie every day, and I am looking for an EDK with a more discreet pocket clip, and perhaps a nicer handle.

Some of the spyderco knives have wire clips that look pretty discreet.

Can you recommend any other knives with clips that don't shout "Hey I'm carrying a knife!"?

More info, if needed: My Grip is bright colored plastic, and rides kid of high in my pocket. I am looking for something with a clip that is more discreet and rides lower down.

Other parameters: locking blade, less than 3 inches. Price under a hundred bucks, new (or used on ebay).

Less important features I'd love to see.

Ideally I'd like wood or metal handle grips, something more sophisticated than plastic, but black plastic would be okay. I like the look of the CRKT Delegate Gentleman, for example, but there are some bad reviews on it, and I'd really prefer a blade under three inches because of the laws in my state. If the cops measure a 3 inch blade, it might suddenly measure MORE than three inches, so a bit less than three inches removes all doubt.

I love the axis lock of my BM, so if there is a lock where you don't have to put your fingers in front of the blade to close it, that would be a plus. I don't like those with back locks. A liner lock or frame lock would be okay, but less good than something like axis lock/arc lock/bearing lock. Not trying to start a debate about locks, just stating a personal preference.

Lastly, I like the half serrated blade of my BM, so that kind of blade would be great, but not a must by any means.

So, mostly I am looking for edk knives with discreet clips and smaller blades, but handle/price/lock/blade are minor considerations that could decide things one way or the other.

Thanks a bunch!

Maybe a spyderco sage 1? It has carbon fiber scales, a black wire clip and is a great small/medium size. It is only plain edge and liner lock though.

What are you doing that a cop cares about your knife? or are you in NYC or LA where that stuff is completely bonkers?

Southern grind has a very small and discrete pocket clip on their knives that will fit most 3 hole style knives. Another and very good option is just to have a clip made for your favorite knife that is very discrete.

Maybe a spyderco sage 1?

I like that, a good looking knife. It's got the clip I like. I found it for around 100 online. Is CPM S30V good steel?

The cons, for me, a blade that is three inches, and it is liner lock. A good start though. Any other reccomendations?

Mini Socom Elite has a nice, small pocket clip that is discreet in both front and back pocket carry. It has a slim profile so it is comfortable to sit down either way. (This is coming from NYC too...) The only possible drawback that I can see for you is that it is a 3.5

Good luck!

Southern Grind? My googlefu has failed me. Their website doesn't show the clip, and neither does google images, nor a video on youtube from them. The knife on their site, the bad monkey is beautiful, but looks bigger than three inches, and is almost 200 bucks. There aren't any used ones for sale on ebay either.

The law in my state says "an ordinary pocketknife shall be a folding knife having a blade not more than 3 inches in length." I don't want to have a discussion with anyone about whether or not my knife is three inches or over, I want to be able to say, like I can with my minigrip that the blade is under three inches (2.91 inches).

EDIT, I see you found a pic. Thanks! The price is still an issue, though.

Here it is:

Beautiful, but too big at 3.5 inches. Also, I can't find it for cheap. It's 275. Lovely knife though, and I love the opening action, and how you don't have to put your finger in front of the blade to close it.

Sage 1 for me. best thing about it is that the clip does not chip . I like the way PM2 all black hides in my pocket but one scratch and every body notice it . Pocket clip chips and it no longer looks great.

Sage 4, Sage 1 or Chaparral.

I looked at sage 1 above. Sage 4:

Nice, but almost 300 new, 175 on ebay, but I might pick one up used. And the three inch blade. I may end up with a three inch blade anyway.

Chapparal:

Or maybe not! This one is 2.8 inches, but has the back lock. It is nice, but Id like to be able to close it with one hand.

A good point. I will never buy a knife with a black blade for the same reason. If you use it to cut anything, the coating gets chipped and it looks funky.

I think that's the first pic in this thread. Here's the same in carbon fiber. An extremely light knife.

I don't have a Chapparal, but want one. But I do have a dragonfly and I can close it one handed. Grip the knife with your index finger in the hole and thumb the lock. Your fingers will be in the way but with your index finger in the hole you have total control over the closing action.

Go for the Chaparral.

The Spyderco Dragonfly or Persistence might suit your needs for a primary knife.

You might like the Sanrenmu 763 as a backup.

Oh c'mon! Splurge and get an Mnandi. It's the ultimate discreet gentlemans knife. If you use it at work people are more likely to want to see it than be afraid, especially with a nice inlay. Plus the clip looks like an expensive pen's clip.

I've never had a knife with a wire clip, but for me the knife that blends in with almost anything would be my small sebenza. It doesn't matter if I'm wearing light jeans/dark jeans or khaki shorts, it's very discreet and barely noticeable unless you really look for it.
