EDK knife with most discreet pocket clip?

Just to let you know, the Exskelimoor doesn't have a thumbstud or hole or whatever, but it still is easy to open with one hand. Look it up on youtube and you'll see what I mean. The jimping on the back of the blade extends around the curve of the knife, and lets you put pressure on the top of the blade and spin it open. So if you're looking for one hand opening, it does in fact do that.

However, if you're looking for a "flick open" style one hand opener, then you are in fact totally correct in disregarding it. For me, I like the ability to open a knife one handed (aka, holding something with one hand, and then opening knife with the other), but the ability to get it out quickly was not on my list of things that I needed in an office environment.

Good luck :).

Thanks for re recommendation. I have fallen prey to the sickness that ails everyone on this damn forum. I have realized that I will need more than one knife! And then you know it's terminal: You will probably have to spend more than you thought!

I have bought two just looking for the one I really want. The boker is "knice" as well, and I may end up with it, too. The Mnandi suggested upthread is beautiful, and I set up an ebay search if any ever come in for less than 100 bucks. Maybe used? Probably not, but hope springs eternal.

Meanwhile, I am looking at mcutsa, which stands for Machine Custom Knives.

The MC-1 series all have a pocket clip. Strangely they don't have the blade lengths on their website. I looked at a few, and the blades were too long, 3.25 inches. The MC-7 series is a pocket knife, no clip.

MC-53D Cocolblo Wood. I think it is a 2.75 inch blade. Gentleman's folder with integrated clip. 135 at japanese knife direct.

This is a beautiful knife, but the clip is on the edge. Anyone know how these clips feel in your pocket?

Still looking at this brand for sub 3 inch folders with pocket clips.

I second the Buck Vantage. I use one as my dress knife. Its one of the cheapest S30V folders out there, and it rides nice and deep. Liner lock though, and the clip is shiny silver.

Is there any difference between that Sage1 and the Chapparal besides the blade length?

The clips on some of the other mcusta knives are beautiful, check the bamboo knife below. This one is kind of blah in comparison.

This does not have a deep carry clip like the others. Too bad, it's less than 100, and really beautiful.

Why doesn't this one or the bamboo come in a damascus blade like the others? Looks like I have to chose between a nice clip (bamboo, taina) and a damscus blade (Tsuchi, 53-D)

I wonder at the addition of a glassbreaker and a belt cutter. I guess that puts it into a specific market for EMTs. Wouldn't a sharp knife also cut a seat belt? I know a sharp knife sure as hell will open up a can.

Just to answer earlier question: yes, a sharp knife definitely cuts belt. A dedicated belt cutter has no point, safer to use around/near the passenger, especially if the situation is bad.

You seem have found many that you can enjoy.

What about the Boker trance?

2.75in blade, framelock, flipper and thumbstuds. Not an "extreme" deep carry clip, but not bad either. Also way under $100.

That one has some weird traction tape on the clip, this is what it usually looks like.

That clip on the MC-146 makes all the difference as thats whats viewed from your pocket, and the textured clip along with how deep it rides would make it look like a pen.

What about the clip on Taina Folder Cocobolo MC-0143. Any idea how that would ride in your pocket?

Just get what you want( that is an actual gentlemen's knife) and put it in your pocket . Wearing an exposed pocket clip with business casual( Or worse formal) is a bad decision. There is no reason to take a chance on making a bad impression.

I am truly surprised no one has mentioned the Kershaw Leek in DLC. Its black on black on black. Its frame lock, assisted opening, 3 inch blade, you can get one on that auction site for like $30-40 and if you don't want to clip it its flat and thin. Its my only choice when i have to wear dress pants as it doesn't print at all. Length is not as much of an issue in dress pants as thickness is. Did i mention its got a black DLC clip? If you carry it tip down it rides really deep as well.

Just out of curiosity, why does the knife have to have a lock? Is it for hard use in the office? Or is it just a preference based off of knives closing on your hand. I ask, because the Spyderco Slipits (UKPK, Squeak, Urban, Byrd Tern), seem to fit your criteria pretty well, and they close safely and easily one handed. The design precludes the need for a lock for all but the toughest EDC tasks. I have carried one for a couple of years now, and not once has the design made me think I really needed a lock. That is doing Tasks such as breaking down boxes, cutting posters/posterboard, stripping copper cable, cutting some fiber optic cable, cutting zip ties, cutting tough DFAC food, opening MRE's, trimming uniform items/string, carving wood, and opening and closing as a fiddlin object. They have the added bonus of being very legal in many, many places, even the notoriously knife unfriendly UK (where I am currently stationed).

The Carbon Fiber and Titanium models are especially dressy, and can still be had if you look hard (probably not for under $100). The G-10 models still look pretty nice, and they are still available for a decent price, and the FRN models still look pretty good, and have the added bonus of being extremely light. The Squeak is extremely nonthreatening, and still has enough blade to do EDC tasks (prolly not the best blade for brandishing to ninja scare bad guys though...;) ).

I just don't want you to miss out on an excellent office EDC on account of a lock that really isn't necessary for EDC tasks, especially in an office environment. If there are other reasons you don't want it, that's fine of course, just had to do my slipit promo. :)

I carry a Benchmade 943 (Kulgera) with a Low Rider Stealth (deep carry) clip when in the office. The knife stays below the pocket line and the clip looks like a pen clip.

That's a good idea, as long as the holes are the right width. An excellent product.

- It's the standard three hole setup used by Benchmade and Emerson. You just don't use the center hole with this particular deep carry clip.

Okay, I bought the MC-0113D
MCusta Tsuchi Small Folder!

But something tells me I may need more than one dress knife...

I also bought two Chinese knives along the way
