EDK knife with most discreet pocket clip?

Are you sure that your new job will tolerate ANY kind of clip on knife? Unless you have already determined that it will I would suggest you take nothing with you for a few weeks and see what the rules and customs of your new work environment are before you decide what to do. A little recon will not hurt you!

No, they aren't. That is what is known in this country as a patent infringement. In China, it's known as business as usual.

I agree. I have a BM as my daily carry, but BM doesn't make the knife I need. I'd much rather buy a BM.

You USE you knives all the time? Yeah, that's not a problem, so do I. Mine rides IWB at my strong side, just clip it on there with the clip behind your belt. You don't have to move your belt when you need your knife, just unclip it as you would normally, the belt just hides the clip.

I see what you mean. I didn't understand, looking at the knife. At first I thought it was one of those which is a belt buckle, sheathed into the leather of your belt. Taking it out would sort of involve opening your belt. My mistake.
boker01bo589.jpg

I close it with my thumb, blade facing away from me, then move my fingers and slide the spine of the knife against my thigh or backside to smoothly close it. I have no fear whatsoever of being cut by this method, and the knife can be opened, used and closed so fast that most people don't see it come out. Practice.

Yes with practice, you can close most knives with one hand. I prefer a knife designed to do so.

Also, it is MUCH better to spend $50-$100 on a great knife

I agree. My budget for the knife is 100 bucks, but hey, if along the way someone shows me a neat little knife for 10 bucks, I will buy that, too.

Get a Strider PT it has a nice stealth clip.
It's a couple of hundred too much for me. Nice knife, though.

Many good suggestions so far. You may also want to look at the Boker Plus Hyper. It's a solid knife with a low-rider clip and very affordable...

hyper01.jpg

ETA: the non-locking side is G-10. It may not be a very dressy looking folder, but it'll ride nice and flat in your pocket.

That's a great clip!!! Price is good. The blade length is good. Seems a bit wide. How does it feel in your hand??

They specifically mentioned at the HR orientation that they followed state law as far as concealed weapons go, and even said knives needed to be less than three inches. Three inches is the limit for concealed carry in my state.

You don't need to practice one hand closing with the Chaparral. The lock is buttery smooth. Some lock backs need some work and practice, not the Chaparral.

It's a nice knife, but just a tiny bit out my price range, since it's over a hundred. If I can find it used on ebay, great, but there aren't any up there. There have been several suggestions that are more squarely within my price range like the Sage 1. There are several under a hundred on ebay.

I have been partial to S.O.G. folders for the last few years. All the clips are set so that none of the knife is exposed, only the actual clip. I have carried an Aegis & a Flash Tanto in both my front slacks pocket & rear pocket.

I have to agree with the Sage 1. I just checked the length on mine and it's a shade under 3 inches.

Some other sub 3 inch deep carry knives:
buck vantage (small)
benchmade emissary (used may be <$100)
kershaw cryo, kurai

or get a deep carry clip from STR? (beautiful work, by the way)
or convert your mini-grip to deep carry with a clip from the adamas

Boker plus exskellimoor II

2.75in blade (440c, slightly hollow ground), dark clip, oak handle scales.

I grabbed one when put in exactly your situation, and it works great for me.

Not my images, but its this blade.

That Boker Plus Hyper blade shape is similar to Sanrenmu T21. The Sanrenmu T21 (liner lock while the Boker is frame lock) comes with belt cutter, glass breaker, & bottle opener with right hand tip down deep pocket clip. The Boker seems to have both tip up & tip down.

Did a preview in the thread Mantzao provided.

No worries, perhaps I didn't explain very clearly. Haven't had a belt-buckle knife for a VERY long time (anyone remember the Parallex company), they're kind of treated like tactical nuclear weapons here in the UK these days! :) Actually Gerber did one you could remove very easily - the Touche (see below - This is not a reccomendation though! :) Plenty of other good suggestions on this thread. Hope you find something that fits the bill.

Got your message bladechick! Good catch! I couldn't find it for under 105.

So it looks like Sage 1 and Chapparal are both within my price range.

Is that handle wood? I like it. It's lovely. Looks like it also comes with a g10 handle too.

I saw your review. It's cool, but it's not for me. I have a swiss army knife with tools all over it:

Victorinox-SwissChamp-Lg.jpg

I wonder at the addition of a glassbreaker and a belt cutter. I guess that puts it into a specific market for EMTs. Wouldn't a sharp knife also cut a seat belt? I know a sharp knife sure as hell will open up a can.

I was making a list specifically for low ride clip folders. I hope this can be helpful to you.

A great list! This is sort of what we were building, knife by knife. I elminated those knives that are too large or too expensive, and I'll take a look at the rest. Thanks!

Kershaw Knockout black clip 63$ 3.25 blade length. So no.
1870-2%5Blarge%5D.jpg

Kershaw Cryo black clip 32$ kinda heavy side Clip doesn't look that deep to me
61zuipy8aPL.jpg

AO Kershaw Echelon Nice low clip! What is that handle material? Not to my taste if I am trying to be discreet.
kershaw-1880-echelon-back.jpg

BF1 CD 150$ Great Clip comes all the way over. Looks like it's 150. Why did I find it for 14.95 here? http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/OEM-Extrema-Ratio-EX-BF1CD-Tactical-Knife-Camping-Knife-DREAM0027-Free-Shipping/410635_577579873.html
6984.jpg

Is that a knock off? It's more tactical looking than I'd like for dress wear, but the blade length matches, so it goes into the maybe pile.

Benchmade Heckler & Koch Mini-Ascender 2.92" 42$ Nice, but I don't want a black blade, they get scratched and look funky afterwards.
hk-mini-ascender-drop-14320bt-back.jpg

Boker Plus Anti-MC 54$, ceramic, titanium handle. I like this better than the H and K, more elegant, but the blade is 3.25, so not for me.
01bo035_2.jpg

Boker Plus Anti-Grav 60$, ceramic, carbon fiber handle. This is one is also too long.
01bo036_2.jpg

Boker Hyper and M-type, somewhat discreet clips. We have talked about these above. THey are under consideration.

Boker Pipsqueak SS clip, small Ti folder. The fat blade shape is not to my taste. The fat blade on the the Hyper was better to my eye.
110623-2%5Blarge%5D.jpg

Not bad, original design: SOG Pendulum, 125$ I like the clip, but not the knife. Not sure why. The stain finish, maybe? Looks too old style switch-bladely to me.
SOG-Pendulum-MB-02-600x500.jpg

Not user friendly clip: SOG Flash II 50$, SS clip, but highly praised knife. I like this one, it has a sort of axis lock to it, and you can get it with a half serrated blade, which I like.
SOGFSA-8.jpg

SOG Twitch. SS clip/black. I think the blade is 2 inches on this, which is too short.
pic1.jpg

SOG SlimJim. SS Clip/Black clip. AO. 2.4 oz. Blade is 3.24 inches, and also, I don't like the name of the maker cut out of the frame.

Mini-DeJavoo 745 Blade is too long, 3.23 inches
745.jpg

Sp UKPK. This is the clip I like, but not a locking knife, so no.
C94GP_M.jpg

Spyderco Meerkat (2") C64JPBRG 71$ (SS clip) Too short

Spyderco Techno. Over a hundred, and the color doesn't excite me.

See Mcustas, though SS pocket-clip, but low riding, ~130$ Not sure which ones to look at. I looked at half a dozen, they all had longer blades than I need.

Boker Plus Action2 Manual Folding Knife (Silver Plain) BO060 40$ (black clip!) Blade is 3.2, too long.
front_B0061.jpg

LionSteel. Which one? Here's the opera. Beautiful, but I don't think it has a clip. Maybe their smaller knives don't have a clip.
152_2.jpg

Columbia River 2900 Heiho Folder Assisted 3.125" Satin Plain Blade, G10 Handles 45$ Intersesting, stylish knife. Too long for me though, 3.125.
21wW1Uw5B2L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

CRKT Vertex DP Assisted Opening Knife w/Micarta Scales (3.125" Satin Plain) 1040 32$ 3.125 blade.
(black clip!)
crkt-vertex-dp-1040.jpg

Dajo Ascent, Dajo Summit Interesting knife.

DJ00915.jpg

Benchmade Venom. 91 mm blade. SS clip. Too long.

Benchmade Emissary. SS clip. 140$ $ KC Suggested in a post below as well. Okay, but I don't like the styling.
470.jpg

Benchmade AFCK. 4 inch blade.

Buck 484 Bucklite Max Small Folding Knife 15$ SS Clip I have a buck already, a folder I got from my dad. I like that one, this one does not impress me.

Boker Kalashnikov Folding Manual, 33$ (supposedly black clip) Nice clip, but 3.3 inches.
boker-kalashnikov-ser-01kals74b-back.jpg

SOG Specialty Knives and Tools SP-03 SOGzilla, Black Ti-Ni, Small 30$, black clip. Blade is 3.25 inches.

SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FF-11 Salute Knife 29$ 3.6 inches, too long for me.

Al Mar Mini SERE 2000. SS blade, black p. clip. Not bad. 3 inch blade, bit more than 100 new.
am_MS2K_open.jpg

Bradley auto black p. clip. 3 inch blade. Made by Benchmade. I don't like a black blade. I could see if it comes in silver.

ZT 0777 Too long, 3.75 inches
zero-tolerance-777.jpg

Microtech Matrix looks like almost the same knife as the 0777. Still too long.
large-mt1651.jpg

ZT Mudd 0500 is like 350 bucks. Not for me.

Zero Tolerance 0560 also too much.

Gerber EVO™ Jr. Manual Folder 20$
Blade Length: 2.75"
Weight: 1.8 oz
This one seems okay, although I am not a fan of Gerber. I like the serrated blade.

Gerber Void EDC Folding Pocket Knife 26$
Blade Length: 3"
Weight: 2.63 oz
Gerber is doing a good god on these clips, though.
gerber-void-fine-edge-30-000181-back-thumb.jpg

KABAR DOZIER BOBCAT 45$ 4 inch blade. Not for me.

Ontario Extreme Military
black clip 157$, Italy Weight: 6.3 oz.
Also too long for me.

I would look into the Benchmade Emissary 470. It'll run about $130 though. Small knife, 3" blacde, Low ride pocket clip" Axis lock, almost perfect ggentleman's edc.

So here's what fits so far

Sage 1 3 inch blade
C123CF_M.jpg

Chapparal 2.82 inch blade.
C152CFP_M.jpg

Any other difference between these two besides blade length? Both of these are nice knives, but very tactical looking, and I'd prefer something dressier.

Boker plus exskellimoor II I rejected. No easy open feature, like a thumb nub, wave, or circle hole.

BF1 CD 150$ Great Clip comes all the way over. ONLY COMES IN BLACK. No thanks.

Boker Hyper

316Q7QJ3SRL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

SOG Flash II has an axis style lock, but it it too long.

See Mcusta. Beautiful, but Blade on most of them is 3.25.
Img497.jpg
.
Here's one that's 2.75
MCU113D.jpg

I will keep look at these. These are some elegant knives. More to my taste than the tactical looking knives for wearing to work.

LionSteel. Which one? Here's the opera, but it does not have a clip. The other knives I found are too big.
152_2.jpg

Bradley auto black p. clip. 3 inch blade. Made by Benchmade. I don't like a black blade. It does come in silver, but I am not really a fan.
BCC17950S-2T.jpg%3F1317903116

So of these, I like lionsteel or mcusta.
