First please do not take this in any negative way. I am just honestly seeking answers from folks who are knowledgeable of Strider folding knives as I have zero experience with the brand. Going with the prices at the Exchange, it looks to me Strider is in the same league as RHK and CRK. Now that I have just started with the latter two, what different things/features shall I expect from Strider?

Is the handle of Strider ergo? I mean Striders look to me very unbalanced with the unproportionally big butt of scales.

Also, I noticed many Striders have been up for sale at the Exchange. Is that just something typical of the Christmas time of the year?

This is really hard to answer because you are going to get varied opinons as you already know!

There's also a bias here because I may like it, but you may not based on what I like in a knife....

I have owned and used a lot of Striders. Mostly SMF's because it's the size I like best.

Here's my summary:

-My 2nd favourite EDC knife (I prefer CRK as my daily carry)
-Best Ergonomics out there. I know it looks strange and unbalanced, but there is a method to that madness...you get a glove-like feel in any grip.
-Not the best "Slicers" but more than capable of chewing through average EDC tasks.
-These are large knives, but if you don't mind an RHK in your pocket, a Strider won't bother you.
-Regardless of the steel you choose, it will perform as well as that steel can.
-They make wonderful prying tools and choppers if you're into that or might need it..not much this knife can't do for a folder and keep going.
-The finger choil is the best on the market and addicting (it took me a while to get used to not having one since my last SMF)

I really have nothing bad to say about Strider knives.
They have served me well with zero issues even when my use was more "abuse" at times.
The only reason I don't have one in my pocket right now is because I have found CRK to be a better EDC in terms of slicing/cutting ability, while still being able to take whatever I throw at it (so far!)

Just to add....

If you do get one, take the edge down to 18-20DPS and enjoy...!

Ok its crazy because i started with crk then strider then hinderer and now im back to crk with an xm 24 as back up. Striders are very fickle either you get a great one or you get a bad one. With the newest gen they are all greatthey have had lock issues in the past but the last smf cc i had was great and super smooth totally aree with jr88fan about thinning the edge. I have big hands and the strider almost got to thin at the pivot area for my taste and wasnt very comfortable unless using the choil. Like i said it may be my hands and what not. I just saw me trying to stab throgh a bucket or something and my hand sliding up on the blade. Ialso i have really grown to dislike choils on about all folders and definitely anything smaller than a 4 inch blade. Completely my preferance if im carying a bigger knife i want all the blade i can get.

I really like Striders, and like it has been said, fit my hand like a glove!! A Strider will handle anything that you can throw at it. They do cut well, and I do not reprofile mine. My SnG is my favorite knife. I LOVE the CC versions. I currently have a lego, and it is awesome.

I have owned perhaps twenty Striders in the four major folder models. All were excellent. I did use Strider service on one occasion for a used (and abused) folder that I purchased. It was a waste. Sent it to Strider, and they sent it back (free) with a new blade, new pivot design, and lots of work on it. It worked as new; looked brand new.
Their KNIFE is guaranteed for the LIFE OF THE KNIFE, regardless of previous owners. NOBODY else does this, to my knowledge.

This and the other posts pretty much sum it up. You either will like them or you won't, and you'll never know with out trying one for yourself. You likely won't lose much if you decide to dump it on the exchange.

I have owned many different folders over the years, but keep coming back to Strider. An SnG is my literal EDC and I haven't run into anything that I ask of a knife that it can't do.

Could someone explain what CC and Lego mean? And any of the other strider specific jargon?

Nobody else has said it, so i will. There's good evidence that Mick Strider is a pretty poor human being. Stolen Valor, all that. Search this forum and it's all there.

CC means concealed carry, and the handle is contoured and smooth. DGG means double gunner grip and the handle is contoured and has deep rough jigging. Lego means the handle has right angled corners and standard textured g10.

For what it is worth I think striders are great knives. I prefer the SnG for edc just because of how slim and light they are in the pocket.

My users have been prone to lock issues, but strider have a good warranty so I don't worry too much

CC stands for concealed carry-Both sides are contoured and smooth
Lego is there standard blockier looking model with both sides flat

I really like the blade to handle ratio(some hate it). It has a fairly small cutting edge-so it has the features of a smaller knife(control), But with a lot of handle , so you can get a lot of torque and full hand grip. Gives you benefits of both small and large knife. This combo fits me well. There are a lot of knives I like , but none more than the SnG.

Another positive for me is that the SnG has a low weight for it's size. I like the Hinderer, but it is just too heavy for my tastes in EDC.

This times 1000. Mick Burger is a scumbag. Buy CRK or custom in the $400 range.

Maybe instead of focusing on the mistakes that someone has made in their lives, perhaps you should focus on what Mick and Duane have done for the military and the families of Soldiers....report back to us please....

I will never judge by the mistakes someone has made, but rather the steps they have taken to fix those mistakes. I think we would all want that opportunity.

I have had good luck with Strider. The ergos, the weight of the knife and the clip are all winners for me really well balanced to. I prefer the Lego grip, not pocket shredding nor too smooth. An SNG or and Emerson CQC 7 would be the knife that I choose to take to work on days when I know the knife will see some abuse during the day. The knives that I carry day to day for more general tasks are CRK's, small 21's ... currently anyway.
