Please don’t throw away hundreds and hundreds of dollars on similar knives sold by convicted felons and rip off artists posing as elite “military operators”.

Whom is he refering to...? And why? Smells desperation big time...But what do I know...

Let's put this thread in TGB&U with all the others....

bluka94: welcome to the forums. Since Cougar saw this and moved it to the proper forum, I assume you really are a new member, and not a troll trying to stir up the swamp. I would recommend upgrading to a Gold Membership, so you can search. (And support the forums as well). Then search for Strider knives. That'll pretty much tell you all you need to know.

This is an old (and rather annoying) issue to a lot of forum folk here, and most just ignore it.

thx - cpr

or use the google search of bladeforums. Search for Strider or lynn thompson

Guys, new people are going to be coming along and seeing that for the first time for as long as LT keeps it on his website, and some of them are going to come to Bladeforums and ask what it's all about. They're not trolls, they're just new people, and you might as well get used to it, LT might keep that on his website for new people to find for years to come....

Does anybody have a list of links to the relevant threads? That's probably the best way we can respond to the newbies, just paste in a list of links to the threads they should read.

Don't have links to any threads, but Mick Strider, who sells a knife similar to that (for about $350) lied about military service.

Apologies to all if I came across as rude. Not my intention. Cougar's right - I guess there will always be new folks who will be wondering what LT/CS are talking about.

bluka94 - again, welcome to the forums.

thx - cpr

Man Brother. Can you feel the love from everyone already? Welcome to the forums. Its about Strider knives. The reason for the rude responses is that its a touchy subject for most people. For instance, this thread will most likely go on, and on, and on, and on, and on.

Hope you have fun on this site. Aaron

I apologise too. I guess once you've heard something a thousand times, you forget that it may not be common knowledge to everyone.

To answer your post. He is referring to Strider Knives. They are the company that CS "borrowed" the design from (Though I believe Joe Byrd claimed to me that Taylor Cutlery was the original designer, but that's a whole 'nuther bag o' crap.).

At the time the copy was written, Mick Strider (the co-owner) was pretty much confirmed to be full of it about his tall tales of military experience. Later the other co-owner was outed too.

When all the personal stuff is ignored, they are both very good knives. While the owners of Strider are not people I would associate myself with, they make very tough knives and have a large following. And while Lynn Thompson is obnoxious and over the top with his advertising, CS also makes some very nice knives, with the GI Tanto being possibly the best bargain going for a hard use knife right now.

I think Strider Knives and Cold Steel should join forces! Couldn't you just imagine the next DVD in the "Proof" series if they did?! It'd be like the good ole days of the WWF all over again!:D:thumbup:
