I'm always looking for elegant and refined folding pocket knives, both in function and appearance. I don't mind a variety of prices, categories, features, materials, sizes, and so on. Do you have any suggestions?

Almost anything from todd Davison and Ken Coates. Alan Davis and several others.

Head over to the knife makers sales area and start in the folders thread. There is post after post of very stunning knives from some very talented people.

For functional elegance check out the Benchmade 531, Nagara and Shoki, and Lum Mini Onslaught (hideous name, lovely knife), the G-10 Dragonfly II, G-10 Stretch II, and Chaparral from Spyderco, the FILMAM Iberica.

A price range and style of knife would help a lot, you are going to get a huge variety of answers! For a gentleman knife IMO look no further than a CRK Mnand.

Here are some from my collection:

I have a couple William Henry knives I carry to work/in a suit. Very refined knives. Expensive but build quality is great.

I find a nice 4" Nagao higonokami......or Hattori or Mushashi higo knife to be elegant and refined. Some don't.

Sorry I don't have a web site. Please go to Customknifegalleryofcolorado to see some of mine. If you see some of my knives there you like, contact me at frankniro2@gmail.com and I will send you a bunch more.

This Fantoni I got is pretty nice. The materials feel high quality and the fit/finish is excellent. The ergonomics and overall flow of the knife are very good too. The only negative attribute is its flipping action. That is stiff and it is difficult to get the blade to fully deploy without wrist action.

I like these a lot, so far I think I might buy something like that Alsdorf, Mnandi, Atlas, or definitely one of several available from Custom Knife Factory of Colorado. I'm in a phase where I'm not interested by heavy use, I've always used my daily pocket knives carefully with only minor cutting in mind.

What I find appealing right now is only pocket knives that are elegant and highly refined primarily in appearance and secondarily in function. But optimally I can always appreciate a knife much more when I can carry it around in my right front pocket, slice impressively well, and yet it shows wear and patina beautifully as if it were designed to look more elegant the more worn it looks. Thanks for your time everybody, the more suggestions the better.

What is elegant is highly subjective so I wouldn't know what to recommend. I find Opinels to be elegant. But that is because I find minimalist design to be so. For someone else elegant might mean a heavy amount of detail such as a jeweling, gilding, inlay and koftgari.

You said you didn't mind a variety of prices so I'll indulge you.

Wolfgang Loerchner's art deco aesthetic is the epitome of elegance:

However, what comes to mind for me when I think of an elegant pocket knife is nacre, gold accents, interframe construction and engraving:
