What vintage is that red devil?Red Devil
I don't know when it was made, but it is an early "signal corp" model. It is a little smaller than a standard TL-29, and the screwdriver blade unlocks by depressing the main blade. What vintage is that red devil?
I'm really interested in seeing early "signal corp" knives.
Yes, I think it’s a 204. And a nice one!Another Schrade Walden Electrician...I think this one is referenced as model 204.

Oh Great...Yes, I think it’s a 204. And a nice one!
But thanks to you, I just figured out a wee bit of Schrade lore!
I noticed that your 204 does not have a shackle. Check this out ~
Mine does have a shackleView attachment 2234868
And now I know why mine is stamped
204S!

A lot of us call it a bail, but I’ve seen old Camillus catalogs calling it a Shackle, so I’ve always followed suit. Now, it appears Schrade did as well.
I think we can conclude the S did not stand for Stainless!

The only final bit of evidence we need is for you to verify that yours is stamped 204, and not 204S…

The Empire Banner point-end shield seems to have been their exclusive, until Schrade started to use it on their special issues, after WWII!!
