Ellis Knifeworks

I only know Darren through the forum and through the emails he and I have sent each other over the past few years. I have never ordered anything from him, though I have been to his site. I know one time I was having problems with my browser being able to open his site and I emailed him. I got a response right away and he gave me his phone number just incase I needed to talk with him. He is a classy guy in my opinion and I will surely do business with him in the future. Is it me or is the world turning into a bunch of Angry people who jump and down when things don't go the way they want them to. Sheesk ANGRYMOB, Give Darren a break. EVERYONE deserves a vacation now and then. Also, if someone was nice enough to invite me to his shop and spend time with me, offering to teach me a few things, I be damned if I would diss them in public. Just my opinion.
 
I rarely post these days, except with acquisitions, but am compelled to comment.

The posts by Darren Ellis are astounding.

They are among the most gentlemanly, civil, and mature responses I have seen on *any* board in reply to conflict.

I knew nothing of Mr. Ellis prior to this thread, but it is clear to me that he is a man of character. Rare to see such courtesy and civility. Delightful.

my name is mitch heidt and I live in gallatin tennessee, why?? I have done manmy of the things he has to help other knifemankers, made a pictorial turorial on a huge online forum, given away knifemaking videos, books when finished, answered questions on my own time as best as I could, does this mean I am infallable???

I have not demonstrated any lack of manners, in fact, considering the childish dogpile mentality I have been subjected to by you civil forumites....I feel i have used quite a bit of restraint......bottom line is he was very rude, and very unprofesional to ME. Don't like it??? Buy a time machine, travel back, and suggest he not only be less rude, but maybe a bit more professional.

Where I come from you have displayed lack of manners..

Let me weigh in here..I also own a business. I find it frustrating as hell when I work my ass off for people all year long and the second that I am not available they lose it and start calling my competition.

Last week I was in my back yard with a pick Axe chopping up a trench to my septic tank as I had a broken waste water line. The Milf was freaking out. I had a plumber working at $40 an hour ( a friend who was cutting me a huge discount) and two other guys helping me dig two 25' by 4' deep holes...it was a long day...in the midst of digging one of my customer calls and leaves a message..Mind you this is a Saturday...she is looking for a specific type of plant. I have it but I GOT to get this hole dug...I wait till Monday to call her back. When I call her..she goes off on my that since she could not get ahold of me...she ordered it from my competetion...ok fine..I had another customer cancel a $10k order with me because I could not visit his greenhouse the next day to look at some plants he was having a problem with..He called on Monday..wanted me to be there on Tuesday...I was jammed with other customers till Friday...he got pissed at my "poor service" and blew me off...Sigh..

what I am saying is that I CAN NEVER EVER GET AWAY FROM MY BUSINESS...so I make it a point of turning off my phone...When I go to Blade or on vacation..I still have to check in for messages...and yet my customers seem to expect that I am always available 24/7/365 and if I am not..well they have a defined right to get pissed at me...

sometimes I just need to get away. Spend time with my family, get sane, enjoy life too.

AngryMob..sorry your being an ass and totally disrespecting a guy who works his ass off on his job for his community of knife makers.. Just because your prima donna ass had to wait a week even though his website and answering machine said different...boo hoo...the world doesn't revolve around you pal..quit being such a selfish Phucktard..your lucky Darren is nice..If you were my customer I would have told you to go to hell...

I thought I knew you but I am mistaken.

Mitch, take a deep breath and relax. If you do the things you've posted you're a good person who is having a bad day. Darren has earned the respect of the knifemaking community by being an exemplary person. His responses to you are an example of the person he is. If you want the same respect as Darren you need to respond differently.
 
I feel like a "pile on" is what ANGRYMOB wants. Anyone else feeling that way? He's getting more instant gratification now. Almost as if he's trying to prove a point that has nothing to do with Mr Ellis. How about we all bow out and pay no more attention to this non issue. Nothing was exchanged, no one was hurt and nothing was lost or stolen. So NOTHING has happened. Mr Ellis' reputation is in tact and his responses were kind and cool. No one can fault him.

I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with Dogpiling. It's not like this issue isn't any of our busines. ANGRYGUY posted this in a PUBLIC forum which is represented by a large group of people. This isn't his personal blog here.

Piling on is good for a community where one of its members is being a PT.

If I ever act like this, I hope you dogpile my ass!

Yeah, I hear that and understand. However, 100% of these posts are in Darren's favor and everyone agrees ANGRYMOB is wrong for posting this. So, since the point was made and the pile is 3 pages long now. We all agree, then let angrymob simmer in his own juices while we go back to our lives...LOL I would certainly back you if someone should call you out for a non issue like this, but this horse is dead and beaten as is shown by us all agreeing to Darren's side. ANGRYMOB has mentioned dog piling a couple times the first time he said it as if he almost wanted it to happen. So we gave him what he wanted for him to continue means he wants more. Should we oblige him or should we teach him that being instantly gratified whether positive or negative isn't always to be expected? As well, he seems to want this. Do you want to give the spoiled more spoils? We've al;l trashed him, no one agrees with him. NO ONE, so why continue to give him what he wants? Deny him this too...LOL

you guys are such a group of smug, self righteous hypocrites......I expect people to do their job, to provide a service, and not to get lippy about it when they screw up, period, and if they can't, then I will say so..........don't get your feet wet walking on water guys........

Angrymob, truth here -

You should read this whole thread again, and ask yourself if being dogpiled on might just be warrented. It's not a pack mentality here, you're just flat wrong, and just flat being a jerk. That you're not willing to smell the coffee and figure this out kind of emphasises the truth of what has been pointed out to you.

Grasp it. Change or not, but don't accuse others of seeing inaccurately when you choose not to see.
