I don't know what it is, but certain patterns made in the late Schrade CutCo period were listed in the catalogs as having 'Fibestos' covers.

I found it in my notes after talking to you.

I like the advertisement knives. At times when you see such elusive Knives of yesterday- I think to myself “ Wow….if only still today these Company Knives were still in fashion to gift away these days “

I too have been struck by the advertisers.

some sweet looking pics retired and still learning, Fostarene , I had to look it up because it's not in my Italian/American dictionary, polystyrene plastic, interesting, does the knife in hand feel different from Delrin

Probably a trade name! It feels harder, almost "brittle", and generally looks shinier than Delrin!

Hank you would notice the Difference my friend, I’ve been doing some digging lately and U have seen Polystyrene mentioned.
Some plastics have the more technical names rather than their marketed or public Brand names.
LFC also had this same type of Fostarene handle material as well.
