Elusive Schrades

How about an elusive display? I have a few Schrade displays, but nothing like this one. I have had this display for a bit, got it from Steve Pfeiffer some time back. Finally got around to freshening it up a bit. I replaced a deteriorating plastic strip on the top section with a Plexiglas strip, then filled it with some select SW pieces. Always more fun to show them instead of them sitting in a drawer somewhere...

Nice old display, Glenn!! It's always a joy to take a peek at a nice display of Oldies!!😁
I am sorry to report that our beloved Friend and mentor, Michael Little passed away on Sunday. He was the Schrade man among Schrade men. Many of us learned a great deal from a great man. Rest in Peace.
He always had a lot to say about Schrades!! May he rest in peace!!:(

Oh no!
I was in contact with Michael a bit earlier on, I remember reading about most of his collection being stolen, my heart broke for him.
I came across a new old stock - still in it's gift box - a Sharpfinger and it's basket weave Sheath totally untouched, I bought it and sent it over to Michael to try and lift his faith in humanity.
We conversed a little in the earlier stages, but Michael then told me he was shifting in with his son Jason as he was becoming bedridden, His son Jason was a very dedicated son to Michael by the sounds of it. Now and then I emailed him to see if he was ok, but I didn't want t be a nuisance.
I contacted him to let him know Neal and I did a magazine article on Sears, he really wanted to see it, Neal graciously sent him a copy of the Knife magazine, I was quite humbled with his thoughts to the article, though I did let him know that Neal was the power behind it all.

I have just gone through some of our conversations in my folders- there quite a few discussions so I have a folder full named " Codger"

Darn it! life delivers many blows along the way.

To Michaels family, our thoughts are with you, to Jason, what a fantastic son looking after your Dad- well done Jason, you really are a true son.
Sad news, really sad news.

Oh no... That is terrible news. Schrade is what got me deep into this hobby, even though my first knife was a case. I used the information he had gathered about the lb7's to accurately date my 4pin to 1980. He was a wealth of information...

May he rest in peace.

I picked up this little Schrade at our local antique store. I think I paid too much ($20) but I like it. More importantly I like the antique store. It’s got a KON-KAV badge and, ironically, a concave middle liner that I’ll try to straighten.

If that knife is 3 5/16 inches closed, the old pattern was 8853 1/4. The covers may be Fosterene, a hard glassy black material. If it is 4 inches (3 7/8"), it would be pattern 8833. And yes; probably quite early 1950s or very late 1940s.
