Emerson Collection

That 12 was done with a "scotchbrite" wheel on a grinder. You could do it by hand but it
would be a PITA to be honest and the finish would look different too.

I'v done a few true satin finishes on Emersons, I'll see if i can dig up a few
other pics with a "hand rubbed" finishes for you.

(with all power tools and knives be really carfull not to let heat build up or you could goose the heat treat)

I have a Dremel with a polishing kit. But I suspect that it will be too fine of an abrasive. I don't want a polished blade, I just want to remove the coating like you did. Thanks for all your help and fast replies.

One more question, will I lose the Emerson markings from the blade?

That knife is a RHINO. I just traded my regular CQC6 for a Super CQC6. I have a FERRRK 7, Commander and I & I Tanto (EDC Tanto). Each have a black finished blade. Looking for a production Persian though. Anybody got one?

Sean

I have owned a CQC15 for the past year, and I have not been kind to it. And I am proud and happy to carry it daily.
My first love was the Persian, but the 15 seduced me just before I sealed the deal.
Anyhow, I assumed I could buy the Persian so on there after, only to discover the Persian had disappeared from the Emerson web page.
BUT REJOICE!!!!!
I have put myself on the back order list for a Persian because there is a new production run of them due sometime in late October.
You can buy a production Persian just like all we common folk!
Nice collection, you lucky dog!

If you buff the finish off it will pretty much remove the Emerson logo. That 12 has the logo very faintly "ghosted" on the blade but it's essentially gone.

If you use a chemical stripper of some sort the logo will stay on the blade as it's lazer etched so it's actually on the steel of the blade.
I don't think you will have much luck stripping the "satin" coating with chemicals though.

Thank you. Maybe I'll just wait until the satin finish gets marred, then I'll go to work on it. OR, I could wait until I can buy a stonewash Horseman :D

I just took these to post on another forum, and saw this thread, so some of you probably already saw this pic..my EKIs, I have a black persian coming in the not so distant future:

Fedknifelover- Your collection is amazing....I am still saving for my first custom. I need a six, badly. It would be a user for sure. That Rhino is just awesome!

Ok, here is my story of EKI knives. I read one of Dick Marcinko's books (Rouge Warrior series). He mentioned an Emerson knife that he used and I curious. After some research, I was hooked. Now it is an obsession. The Commander is my "American Express Card". I don't leave home with out it.

Here's some pictures of a few of the Emersons I have..somehow I love the hawksbill blades a lot!..i've had the CQC 9, twice, sold it twice, and this is my 3rd!..

I don't know. It has taken years to collect them. Not bragging, but to put a value on it, I would have to say the total collection is worth about $30,000. That is a conservative estimate. I have some that are not in that photo.

WoW :eek: Amazing collection:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
