What's new this week . . .

Yeedude's Gif of the Commander opening, courtesy of www.tacticalblade.com

Pictures beautiful halfmoon CQC6 owned by "bmschulz". One was added to show a benchmade clip also.

And last, but most certainly not least, something really special. I direct your attention to the "CQC7-A" listed above. Any one ever see a Specwar Custom Spearpoint CQC7? Chisel ground no less.

Take care and keep those cards and letters (and pictures) coming.

New Update!

I received a picture of a knife most have probably never heard of. "The Stealth". The Stealth was listed on a page of the '94 custom catalog as an example of a "One-of-a-kind" custom. I had forgotten about three pages of the '94 catalog and have listed them above, along with a picture of "The Stealth".

Also we have a new picture of a CQC6/Viper thanks to the same contributor. (Thanks)

Also, Guys and Gals, we are open to suggestions as to how to make this Gallery better. Any suggestions? Terms that need to be added to the Glossary? Correction?

Thanks you for everyones helps so far. Let's keep it moving forward.

Suspects: I am aware of a few Emerson Customs that have been sold to persons who do not either post or possibly even frequent this sight. (Some are in other parts of the world).

As you know, I keep a updated list of the persons who have mentioned on the forums that they either own or have sold a custom knife or who have e-mailed myself or John Hollister and reported the same.

The question I have for you is this: If we are aware of a Custom that has "disapeared" and probably will not be seen or heard from the owner again, do you want the list on the Gallery to reflect downward the number of knifes listed in that catagory?

Personally, I feel that this list should only reflect what customs we as "members" own rather than attempting to list customs that have disappeared.

I am open to your opinions and will let you know what the current status will reflect.

Remember, any acquistions or deleations are encouraged to be made known if you so desire.

What members currently own.

I'd like to know how many are out there, even if its someplace that it'll never return from. For example, Ernie made five Rhinos to begin with, gave three out for testing and sold two. Two were returned to him by testers (read operators), one in such bad shape he "stuck it in my garage". Now suspects may only own two - but isn't it valuable to know what else exists? The full dress CQC6/Vipers - the serial numbers go up to 009, but some were sold in Japan. We'll probably never see them again on this side of the Pacific, but its still useful to know that the one you're buying is one of nine, one of three known. JIMHO.

Maybe keep two counts - one of the ones we vouch for as owning and a second count for knives we know of elsewhere

Jbravo

Good point, but I think we have a problem in that we could very well be counting the same knife over and over. Most Emersons aren't serialized, like say MTs.

It would be nice if on special pieces, like say the CQC6/Viper, we had concrete info that there were only nine. A note could be made on the side "Nine produced", but with most models and variations, numbers are misty at best.

As an example, on the MT lists that Valmet runs, he has solid info from the factory about exact numbers and variations of knives produced. There are still knives made that never make it to that list though, just the ones that go to the general public and specials that Valmet is notified of.

Personally, I think the count should reflect as accurately as possible what members here have at any given time.

jbravo - I knew about the 5 original Rhinos, but are you saying that there are no others. I never attempted to place an order for one but I know it is in one of the catalogs I have, so am wondering if he made more than 5 and if he currently makes any that were ordered?

There will be an update in the next couple of days. Photopoint is being updated and is a pain to upload to today. It took me all day to up load four pictures and get them posted.

Thanks again to those that have submitted pictures in the last few days.

John

Hey guys, new update.

They were actually up yesterday, but between my computer and Photopoint changing thier site constantly, I'm begining to take it personally.

You have to check out the new fixed blade pictures, especially the shot of the Phaser, Mirage (my personal favorite) and the Vindicator all in one shot at the bottom of the Gallery.

The latest update is complete. While small, it is none the less exciting.

There are a couple of new ES1-M pictures (we all know how I feel about that design

), including one of the chisel ground side.

Now for the really exciting stuff:

Les has donated a picture of a knife he sold some time back, a Bowie logoed folder. One of the first knives Ernie made.

The next photo really made my eyes bug out!

Submitted anonymously is a picture of some of the rarest of the rare. A Stealth (possibly one of one according to the '94 Custom catalog), a Bowie logoed folder (One of the first knives Ernie ever made and said to be one of a dozen or so made), A Rhino (said to be one of five made and possibly one of three surviving), The first CQC5 made, a Raven Prototype with carved G10 scales, a halfmoon CQC7 (how many of those have you seen?) and the collection is rounded out with regular old, boring (tongue placed firmly in cheek here guys) Specwar CQC6, Specwar CQC7, a Ti Nitride CQC8 and a Black-T CQC8.

I leave soon for the SOF Show and what will be refered to as "The Big Update".

John & Sniper 308: Please add these new additions to the list: CQC 5 & 7, both dated, Specwar logos. A friend is going to help me try and scan them in the next few days, along with the rest of my collection. By the way, I have now handled all the various generations of Emersons and these knives are as well made as the older ones. Fit and finish are excellent and they both have great lockups.
