Emerson Custom Count/Gallery/Glossary

And if you can also add a new year 2000 issue of a Custom CQC7 to the list I'd be grateful.

A very happy owner !

Just got back from Vegas. The photo shoot of mine and Tamishigiri's collection went well and attracted quite a bit of attention (It seems when $50,000 worth of Emerson customs are laying on a table in one place, folks get excited). It was a pleasure meeting John, and hopefully he can get the photo's up soon. Tami and I didn't have the combined computer skills to do this ourselves, so it worked out great. I hope everyone enjoys these when they come up.

I just walked in the door. I reviewed the pictures on the plane (all hundred and thirty of them) and I think your going to be happy.

I'll have a couple of shots up tonight, but the bulk will be up Wednesday evening.

Tamishigiri and Nyeti, It was incredible meeting ya'll face to face. Thanks again for allowing me the honor of taking pictures of your collections.

John

Here is an overview of Tamishigiri's and Nyeti's collections. We tossed around a ballpark figure of $50,000, but I believe it's over that.

Also, here's a shot of Tamishigiri and Nyeti, each holding a Rhino and an ES1-M. Here's another.

John,
Thank you ! The pleasure was mine.
W/O your adroitness w/ this Digital Cyberspace stuff it would'nt have been possible.
This is the culmination of one of Nyeti's and my passions for at least the last ten years. In fact it was like finding a long lost brother when me met. Nirvana !
Hope all enjoy and thanks again. It was a pleasure meeting you. Look forward to next time.

That's a sweeet collection. Hmmmmmm I've got a car, a partially used kidney, and some very rare sea monkeys you wanna trade?

Just wondering how long did it take you to gather such a impressive collection?

John:

You were supposed to grab me one of those Rhino's when they weren't looking!. . . . . . Did ya forget?

Way cool. Wish I could have been there to see it in person.

John, I hope you have a fast line as uploading 130 digital pictures to Photopoint and linking them to the Gallery could take a couple of minutes...and you know that the faithful want to see all 130 of the photos!

Holy cow! I think that I just wet myself. That's enough customs for a down payment on a small house. Can't wait to see the pictures. I hope you have a T1 line to upload.

BWT they both have good taste in watches too

I'm still working guys

I have the CF10 individual pictures up and most of the Rhinos.

I still have to figure out where and how to post the group pictures. Like the fixed blades, CQC8s (the "blacked out" one is spectacular, the blade, liners, screws, clip, pivot, ect are all Black-T), ES1-Ms, Carraci Daggers, ect.

More later

Bunches of new pictures added. From the overall picture, lots of "grouped" pictures, some new, neat Rhino shots, lots of individual fixed blade pictures, ect. Believe it or not, still more to follow.

Also, Bladelaw has added a couple of shots of his collection to our Gallery. (Thank you Sir) BTW, I dig the purple effect from the scanner.

John

These are two truly awesome collections. Having looked at all these kinves it's going to make my wait seem event longer. It also makes me rethink some of my orders. I just don't know which knives to get! Thanks John, Tamishigiri and Nyeti.
Nice collection to Bladelaw!

I have a head full of impressions after having the opportunity to fondle Tamishigiri and Nyeti's collections. Maybe some of them will help.

The Bodyguard (CF8) is a larger fixed blade, but is incredibly fast due to how thin it is. Pure defense in my mind.

The Mirage (CF5) is awesome! If I could only have one FB, this would be it.

The Carraci Dagger (CF11) is a lot smaller then I imagined. Tamishigiri tells me there is a larger version.

The Rouge Warrior (CF10), Whoa Momma, that's a knife! Serious steel!

The Rhino. This legend of the Emerson line was what I most anticipated seeing. I had pictured it larger then it really is . . . my fault, not the knifes. It's pretty much the same overall size as a Commander, just more wicked in appearance. If I had the opportunity to order one, I would. But I would want it "Super Sized".

Of the folders (other then the Rhino), the ones that really jumped out at me were the CQC7A and the all black CQC8. Both were absolutely beautiful. They couldn't have been any nicer unless they were my own. (Wink, wink, nod, nod)

John

Tamishigiri and Nyeti...WOW, what incredible collections!! John, thank you so much for bringing them to us! I'm still in awe at all of those fixed blades....

Bladelaw, beautiful collection! How long has it taken you to build your collection?

Ok, here's the deal. If you have pictures to send in, the email address has changed. My last address seems to be like my last girlfriend, it talks, but doesn't listen. Aka, I can send, but not recieve emails.
biggrin.gif

I've set up another address, so please keep those cards, letters and pictures coming.

johnhollister@juno.com

The Email problem has created a delay in putting out an update. I should have some new pictures soon that will knock your socks off. We're talking "Old School Emerson" here . . . real old!
smile.gif

By the way, Don and I really want to Thank everyone for the support in this project . . . let's keep her goin'.

And what an update it is.
biggrin.gif

Sniper308 took several pictures of his CF-4 for the Gallery. Not only is this the only CF-4 we're aware of, it's right side ground. He also noted that the pommel spike is actually sharpened. Pic Pic Pic Pic

Sniper308 also provided copies of the '92 Emerson Viper Knives catalog that came with the CF-4

A recent string mentioned that the first knife that Ernie actually made was a Bali-song. I asked him about it and he chuckled. It's crude, but functional. The heat treating was done with a torch.
smile.gif

He was nice enough to dig it out of his safe and get a picture for the Gallery. Picture

While he was at it, he sent pictures of two other very early knifes. One was a Damascus Fixed Blade and a fixed blade with differential heat treating. The Hamon can be seen in the picture. Thanks Ernie

Also in this update is a picture of a few early Halfmoon Pre-Tacticals. The picture was included with the Emerson Custom catalog from around 1990.

Hope everyone enjoys the updates.

John
