I can't get the handle screws off my knife and unfortunately I stripped quite a few trying to get them out :( I'll have to send it to Kershaw

Long story short is the new screws are too short as well, I wonder if anyone tests stuff there...

This is an example of Customer being a companies QC Department. Nothing new, happen all the time with many products.

Pretty much, no excuse for sending out screws that didn't fit either. That's just plain lazy that nobody made sure first, would have taken 30 seconds.

I have had very little reason to contact KAI for warranty/QC issues. The two times I have, I have enjoyed top-notch service and prompt resolution. However, I can understand the OP's frustration. I think he is handling it better than I would. The notion that they would bring a product to market, espousing it's consideration of left-handed users, only to not include the required hardware (especially when such an issue existed with the thermite) is pretty inconsiderate on it's face.

The notion that a bunch of extra steps would be required to rectify the situation, just rubs salt in the wound.

To add to the aforementioned hassle by receiving the wrong hardware AFTER seeking resolution is bordering on the absurd.

If I were a lefty, I think I would feel extremely slighted. I also think the cost of the product should have no relationship with the quality of customer service one receives. The fact that others would allude to such a notion is disheartening. Thanks for keeping a level head on this OP. I'd likely be more upset than you.

If anyone is so inclined, you can send me $40 for a knife. I'll send you a knife, that I promise, but when you get it you should just be happy to have a cheap knife, so no getting upset with any flaws. Does this sound like a reasonable business exchange? Let's see if I have any takers. I hypothesize that no one will take me up on it, despite folks saying it should be accepted practice.

So I just made my 3rd call to Kershaw / Kai "Customer Service" about the short screws, they let me know that they are aware of the problem and they appreciate my business. They also told me that they have placed a rush order for new screws but they have no idea when they will get them. They also promised to send some right away once they arrive... we'll see...

I have to say this really sucks...

Keep us posted. I just ordered the CQC-6K and am anticipating the same problem. I probably should have held off until the problem was rectified. Oh well.

Hey, I just had an idea. What if you asked for some pocket clip screws for one of the liner lock models like the 8k? Those already have to be long enough to go through the scales into the liners.

That might not be a bad idea, maybe someone with both knives can do a test...

Just ask for replacement screws for one of the linerlock models. Easy peasy, if they work great if not you have some extra screws.

This may be a "budget" knife but, design went into it before mass production. Is that not where quality control is exercised? The designation R/L is not correct. Should read R and L with optional screws the buyer needs order and wait a month for. This knife would have been a great folder if was possible to convert to left hand. If you need the screws, call KAI, they are aware and say it was an engineering problem. Quote from website - "The pocketclip is reversible for left- or right-handed carry". Just a little venting, I really wanted to carry this knife, wish the company had noticed this prior to shipping. One last thing, why the wait?

I've had bad luck with Kai's screws. On my CQC-4k one of the pocket clip screws came stripped and on my ZT 0561, one of the scale screws literally crumbled when I tried to unscrew it. I only use Riha Torx so I know the tool wasn't the issue. The screw on the 0561 must have been defective, so I will have to send both of these knives in to have the bad screws removed.

Beyond the screw troubles, the knives have been fantastic in both value and performance.
