Emerson Kershaw Cqc-7K Pocket Clip FAIL!?!?

It's been over a week since I last spoke to customer service, they are supposed to call me when my new (second set) of screws are sent out...

I sent them an email through their automated customer service system. Other than the automatic response informing that the message was sent, I have not heard anything back. I was trying to avoid a phone call, but that may be inevitable.

I think I get that you are very disappointed that your new $40 knife came with three screws that were too short to be used to move the pocket clip to the other side of the knife so you can carry your knife in your left pocket.

You were able to make two impressive videos and many posts here to let everyone know how badly Kershaw, Kai and everyone in the factory let you down.

You could use some of your impressive internet skills to order a few screws for a few bucks if you don't want to wait for the folks in Tualatin to get some out to you

Or, you could continue to post here every few hours to let everyone know how this screw issue has nearly ruined your life.

Sarcasm aside, three screws (and some on hand for the future) seems like a fairly simple thing to achieve.

Thanks Mr Helper, I did order two sets of screws that ended up being the wrong size... Do you know what size to order? The Kershaw rep didnt...

My local lowes has a thread chart that I use to get the sizes - let me see what I can find out for you.

I order the m3x4mm and m3x5mm both work are the correct threads but too short. M3x6mm does work but I can't find the button top. The ones I have will only allow 2 to fit on the clip at a time, and the are not torx or black. I understand the point you are making but the reality is this is Kershaw's fault and their problem to fix.

Do these look like they will work (not deal spotting - just a picture of screws that might work) -

I want your opinion based on the size of the heads shown in the link

[edit] - I am finding these in several places for little money; looks like this size is commonly used in RC cars fyi - [/edit]

It's hard to tell, but possibly. I may give them a try if I don't hear back from Kershaw by Friday. Thanks for the link...

To Smokinape... I've sent you an email with a link that might have the proper metric screws for your Kershaw Emerson. Let me know. Richard...

i called kershaw yesterday to follow up, they are 3 weeks out on screws...

I have been quiet on this thread because I said my piece in the other Kershaw/Emerson thread. But the backhanded sarcasm being tossed at Ape is uncalled for.

If that is not a "FAIL" I don't know what is. and for those of you who say "blah blah sarcasm, $35 knife, blah blah, stop whining, blah blah, #1 cutomer service. yadda yadda, buy screws..." I say, a fail is a fail. Kai CS has a very good rep and they take their time with releasing knives to avoid this crap. Like I mentioned in another thread, we should not have to jump through hoops to achieve something that was promised by the manufacturer. Ape (and the rest of us southpaws) has every right to kvetch about what is going on with this issue. And if you are bored with this thread I have a novel idea for you. STOP READING IT!
Sorry to hijack your thread Ape. But after a few weeks of this, it kinda got to me.

Yes - huge fail. And if you don't like my sarcasm or this thread, STOP READING IT!

Ironic, yes?

I'm honestly struggling to understand why this is such a big deal. To get butthurt over a $35-$40 seems unnecessary to me and a waste of time on the consumers part. Yes, Kershaw has a problem with the screws not being long enough. Yes, the customer service representative didn't know about the new release(s). I still don't understand why those two things warrant a video, a thread, and a post on Instagram about it. You can't tell me those two problems deserve all of this publicity when Kershaw is actively trying to mend the issue. You know how many customers Kershaw is going to lose over this? Absolutely none. It just seems like a huge waste when all of this time and effort is going to affect nobody. Nobody looks at a $35-$40 knife and uses that as a basis to judge an entire company off of. If you do that, something's wrong. I would most definitely understand all of this time and trouble for say, a $150 knife. But, a $35-$40 knife from China, come on!

This seems like a 13-15 year olds drama status on my Facebook feed.

Bottom line, would the knife have interested you if it was NOT drilled and tapped for lefty carry?

It would have interested me, but I probably wouldn't have bought it. Being tapped for left side carry was one of the major selling points to me. I have had many Emerson knives, but never one that was lefty friendly and never a frame-lock. That being said, I knew there was a problem from this thread and I still bought the product because I have faith that it will be remedied by KAI. I have always had good luck with their products and I cant remember hearing a bad CS issue that wasn't resolved in a satisfactory manner. I probably would never have gone to the lengths of the OP, but hey, the squeaky wheel does get the grease.

Many thanks to those of you who are looking for the right screw to make this work. If I knew what they were I would buy them tomorrow and not worry about getting them from Kershaw.
