You are correct frontsight that production vs. custom is not important. What is imporant is intent. Your blades are intended as weapons, thus there is no comparison to a steak knife. There are numerous convictions of people carrying steak and kitchen knives because the intent was to use them as weapons. The hak is a weapon, nowhere on your website would some get another impression.

Any "legal type" that tells you the "factors that loom large" are your background, position and being in the right situation are full of it. Those factors only come into play before your arrest at the discretion of the cop. It may keep the cop from searching you and may convince him to ignore your weapon. But a person's background has a minor role when it comes to conviction. You may get a good plea, but you'll still get a conviction.

Don't forget, due to the Supreme Court ruling of three years ago, a cop does not need probable cause to search your person after they have stopped you. The cop's personal safety during his questioning of you is sufficient cause to search. I know this from personal experience during a DUI stop. I was lucky because my knife was legal and I was not drunk, but I was still searched as part of the routine.
 
Martin, I was in Anaheim, and It was their police that told me so. I can't give you the handful of officers in question, it's been a couple of years. Anyfow, I agree with Brownshoe that, not as a dept. policy but as individuals, (maybe due to my relatively clean background) that they would be willing to overlook the Perrin La Griffe I was determined to carry because it looked innocuous and I would be "profiled" as a non-threat.
