Emerson wave patten?

Nice resort to personal insults because you believe manufacturer marketing. For your info this keyboard warrior was in fact a real soldier who deployed under OEF ;) and exited the United States Army in 2012 with an honorable discharge and now goes to college on my post 9/11 GI bill.

I appreciate your service to this country. I'm not making a blanketed comment that I believe all marketing. In this case I do. That's all. If you don't believe his marketing based on every other company then I'm not sure what you're getting at. Why don't you believe Emerson's marketing statements? Has he said something in the past that wasn't true? I don't know any SAS members so I can't ask them. I have to go based on good faith.

But that doesn't mean I don't staunchly defend Intellectual Property. It's the American way.

I don't know if this means that you don't understand what intellectual property is, or feel it needs to be defended even after it no longer exists.

Is the American way defending the wrong thing for no particular reason?

S.W.A.T guys have been known to carry an endura maybe sal should market it as the knife of special police teams.

I saw a SWAT guy here with a $30 folder clipped to a strap on his leg that would be easy for it to fall off.
Probably good he only spent $30 on it...

Just because military guys or cops carry it does not mean it's a good knife.

Exactly most military guys get knives in the PX lol Cops are quite similar in this regard.

I don't bring my service up for a thank you but you called me a keyboard commando, keyboard commandos weren't on top of 50 caliber machine guns and mk19's. Emerson has embellished before right here on bladeforums but I can't find the thread, I'll dig more later.

And good on you for not believing marketing as its primary goal is to sell you a product, not give you the absolute truth.

I don't think you understand the term I used. I'm not sure why you brought up your service, but it wasn't necessary because the term "Keyboard Warrior" refers to a combination of the word 'keyboard' (the main tool by which the person expresses his/her latent rage) and 'warrior' (due to the warrior-like aggression, tendency towards violence, headstrong nature and propensity towards brute force as a means of resolving conflict rather than more subtle means dependant on finesse). Has nothing to do with your profession. I was just pointing out your aggression.

I finished college, I understand marketing quite well.

I took the term to mean like mall ninja so yea... whoops. I still got 3 years left in college... yay.

And I think you mistook my passion for my hobby as aggression, believe me aggression really doesn't translate over letters on the internet.

Although I can be rather abrasive sometimes especially when I'm in pain.

It's all good man. We're all here for the same reason. We enjoy knives.

If you have a chance read the thread I posted up above.

Very interesting discussion :) I did find it neat that Emerson does custom knives for some uppers in the DoD. So, what it seems is that as long as knife companies don't use the term "wave" when the patten runs out other companies could use it? Why does the patten run out?

A seal driving a sumbarine??? Never EVER heard of that... Don't think they do that either lol.
The level of training in Brazil's SF makes OS look like Salvation Army collectors.

All of that is pointless. The level of hand to hand and CQB fighting taught at even the highest levels of the US Military, as severely lacking when compared to say, a Greek or Roman soldier from a couple thousand years ago. The nastiest, most hardcore operator in all of the US Military, would get demolished in a quickness, in a hand to hand, or knife to knife fight, against a competent Greek or Roman soldier in a fight to the death, sans firearms. Even with modern man's size advantage.

It is the evolution of warefare. Martial ability has less than zero significance in winning military conflicts now.

With all due respect I don't think a Greek soldier from the past could handle a MACP level 3 or higher. Its the army's combatives program that incorporates jiu jitsu as well as other grappling and striking martial arts. They probably never even heard of an arm bar...

Patents run out essentially for the common good. You have 14-20 years to make your money off your invention, but then you have to share your toys. Helps prevent monopolies and such. As for the trademark, it won't just be about the name, but about how it looks.

Are you for real? Chokes, Arm Bars, Locks etc etc, were all a part of Pankration. And mind you, these soldiers hones their skills by killing enemies, and in games, even some times each other. They did not just fiddle fart around on a mat.

I thought jiu jitsu came from Brazil with the Gracie's LOL turns out Greeks been doing it for centuries. I guess well just agree to disagree.

Now in a sword fight I can see a modern soldier losing.. but throw them each a rifle and I know who I'll bet my money on.

No. Jiu Jitsu came from Japan, and spawned both Judo and Aikido. It was modified from Chinese Arts, which had their originations in India. But no one has a monopoly on hand to hand combat. The Greeks were deadly with their bare hands.

I saw a video a while back with Emerson talking about how he came up with the Wave. He said originally it was meant to be a blade catch for knife fight situations. Just so happened that when he pulled the blade outta his pocket it caught his pants and opened partially. Basically stumbled upon the concept.

Very cool, I didn't know that. I still don't believe in a fight to the death, bare hands our best guys would lose to their best guys. Guess I'm biased lol

Being as there is zero way to actually find out; agreeing to disagree is all we can do.

That said I watched many Greek themed movies and took history in highschool and don't doubt the Greeks were efficient warriors.
