Emerson woes, update.

Couple guys wanted an update as to my horrific emerson situation. I'll start from the beginning. I bought a super 7, used it about a month very lightly and it had a creaky lock with some blade play. Figured it was just a lemon no biggie I'll get it repaired.

Bought a desert roadhouse after that, it came with the blade way off center and the blade scraped the side upon opening. After much tweaking I got it perfect. About a week later, developed very bad vertical blade play and it actually failed on me a couple times. I was pretty pissed. 2/2 on crappy Emerson's.

But I loved the designs and simplicity, along with its pure American components. I bought a cqc 10 right when the roadhouse developed it's blade play. The knife came to me squeaking like a mouse upon opening and right off the bat, lock rock.

At this point I am livid mad, I call emerson telling them the situation. Got an I don't really care attitude from the lady I talked to and I sent the super 7 and 10 in for repair, I needed one knife on me at least for use so I held onto the roadhouse until I got the other two back.

The knives were delivered to emerson march 17th. I called and talked to a guy named Ernesto and told him my woes. He was okay, beat around the bush but said he'd cover the shipping back to me on the knives. I thought that's fine, reasonable. I'm 3/3 on crappy made Emerson's that's the least you could do right.

I called back a couple times wondering why they were taking forever and it turned out their tech was on vacation for a week so nothing got done. The lady I talked to was very rude, and uninformative Well fast forward to Friday, April 4th. The tech calls me, she was very nice and went over what she did with the knives and said she's shipping them that day.

Well I got them today, the super 7 was perfect. Exactly how I expected a 240 dollar knife to be. The 10 upon first glance was good too, until I removed the pocket clip to put one of the skull ones on. As I removed the screws, one of them was stripped. I removed the others and it was very hard to get them out.

Once I tried installing the skull clip, I had an extra emerson screw laying around. I replaced the stripped one and as I turned the screw it just kept going. Same with another. The holes were not correctly tapped and they stripped the screws and as I tried removing them again to see the issue, a screw breaks off in the handle.

Well I'm steaming mad at this point, I specifically asked emerson to double check these knives and make sure they were exactly the way an emerson was supposed to be, they said they would. 3/3 knives I bought all junk, and they couldn't even get it right after hearing my story and sending two brand new knives in for repair.

I just can't believe how I was over all treated and given the runaround besides Ernesto to a slight degree and the tech, then sent back a knife still not right. Well I called them demanding they do SOMETHING to make this right I just flat out said I want my cqc 10 to be completely replaced besides the blade. I wanted a whole new knife besides the blade on the 10 because this is just frankly bullshit. Ernesto told me to send the 10 and roadhouse in and he will see what they can do.

Well before I got these knives back I bought one more emerson, a mini 15. It was good out the box but it is slightly doing what the 10 and roadhouse did. The lock bar is slightly bending causing a bit of vertical blade play. I am waiting to see how it breaks in, not jumping the gun yet. But I'm so pissed off with this company right now I will never buy another unless they do SOMETHING to show that they have screwed me royally, and that they are willing to do something to make this better.

At this point I think I deserve more than just free shipping. I am about $900+ in the hole on Emerson's that are all frankly pieces of shit. Sorry this is kinda all over the place, just letting everyone know how badly emerson has screwed me. I love the knives, just wish they all came the way I would expect them to come for a 250 dollar damn folder. They came to me with the quality of 20 dollar Chinese folders.

These were all brand new knives, the oldest was one month old, the others were literally days old. I hope mr. Emerson sees this and hopefully feels compelled to do something for me because this is just insane. I'm sending the 10 back AGAIN and the roadhouse and I'll let everyone know what happens.

It's long, but takes no more than 1 minute to read. Sorry reading for 1 minute gives you a migraine, others wanted to know what happened so here is the story and end result.

Paragraphs schmaragraphs...

Again, if your going to be an idiot you don't have to comment on the thread with a useless comment. If somebody wants to read it, go for it. If you can't comprehend 1 minute of reading, then I'm sure more people like you will plague the thread with more brainless comments. I'd like to keep that at a minimum.

Tightening the pivot didn't help?

No, its lock rock. I will take pics tonight. But there is no fixing them without a liner being replaced on the roadhouse and a new one as well on the 2 day old 10 I sent in for repair twice now.

I hate to say it but paragraphs do make it easier to understand.

I get what you're saying. How did the lock fail? Were you using the proper sized bits? How were they not correctly tapped?

Also I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass. I'm just asking for more clarification.

I read your post, but I assure you sir that if anyone is going to be called an idiot it is the person who hasn't yet mastered basic grade school English which necessitates the use of paragraphs. I learned this in first grade, but for your benefit here is how that works:

<insert paragraph break here to change subject>

I have had a similar experience with Emerson customer service. The reps I spoke with were all polite and courteous. I sent my CQC7 in to fix some lock rock and it came back with one of the screws seemingly stripped. I switched screws around and put them in different holes and everything threaded (and rethreaded) into place just fine. If you want classy and perfect F&F, Emerson is not for you. They are knives designed to be beat on so they don't start out pretty ya... ya... ya... ya... This has been beaten to death.

Maybe the "attitude" you received from people on the phone was a result of the way you spoke to them? Were they being "idiots" as well?

I don't know whats going on with your knives but I find it highly unlikely that 4 knives have all had major issues. Did you buy these new from a dealer? I have owned and still own several Emerson's the only issue I've ever experienced is models I like being out of stock. Knives are not hammers, Ti on steel will be sticky, and Ti also needs to wear in on the blade tang for a solid lock up. I think you might be expecting a bit too much from these knives. They are best when used. Any knife used properly DOES NOT need a lock to function and applying reverse pressure is not something that should be done for the heck of it... just my $.02.
Something is not adding up... you buy one have a problem buy another have a problem, buy yet another and have a problem...then buy yet another to complain about; its starting to look either you really like throwing money away or you have a beef with Emerson- and I don't mean about your recent issues either.

Walls.

Dizzy.

Eta: ahhh that' better!

Sorry to read about your bad experiences, but I really don't know what to say other than stop buying Emersons?

I have 13 ( I think ) Ernies from 2006 - 2014 and have no issues with any of them, but if I got that many stinkers in a row as well as crappy and disrespectful service? Nope, not gonna do it!

I really try to hold my favorite brands to a high standard and if you were in fact treated as you say then that is inexcusable and you have every right to be upset but it would seem as if you compounded your situation by buying more knives after your ( 3 ) bad experiences.

Now, please excuse me while I post pics of my brand new CQC-7a!

Also, please stop with the personal attacks. This is the Emerson subforum, not whine and cheese or general knife discussion.

Hahah I don't care about paragraphs while I'm typing on a phone. I'm a business owner and am quite successful, so I think I'm fairly smart. I was more than polite every time I called so no, I don't take kindly to other peoples BS

Sir,

Learn how to format a cogent post. Separate paragraphs for separate ideas would be nice..

If the point is to have folks read it and learn what happened to you, perhaps you should consider editing your post and you would get the desired results. From what I can see, you seem to have bought super CQC-7 and after finding it defective, you bought a desert roadhouse and also found it to be defective.

Then, after buying TWO crap Emerson knives, you then decided to AGAIN purchase an Emerson product (a CQC-10)... You send the 7 and the Roadhouse back for service. You also send the 10 back and you find that faulty as well. (How am I doing here?)

You then buy your 4th Emerson (a 15)!!! and it is also faulty.

Is that right?

Oh boy. I'll put pics up tonight. Every knife had bad issues, all were brand new from very reputable dealers.

Reading for know more than one minute does not give me a migraine, it's the way I have to read it that does.

I'm on a phone, would you like me to go back and edit the post into paragraphs? My bad, didn't think i had to have correctly formatted paragraphs on tapatalk
