Emerson woes, update.

I'm on a phone, would you like me to go back and edit the post into paragraphs? My bad, didn't think i had to have correctly formatted paragraphs on tapatalk

I'm posting from my phone on Tapatalk and I'm capable of using paragraph breaks and editing my posts.

Please stop being so aggressive. Can you answer my questions?

Hahah I don't care about paragraphs while I'm typing on a phone. I'm a business owner and am quite successful, so I think in fairly smart. I was more than polite every time I called so no, I don't take kindly to other peoples BS

Let me just paraphrase what I think I'm hearing so I can be sure it's correct:
You bought a Super 7 and it didn't meet your expectations.
Then you bought a CQC10 that didn't meet your expectations.
You sent them in for service.
Then you had a poor customer service experience.
Then you bought ANOTHER Emerson (the Roadhouse) that didn't meet your expectations? LOL!

You do sound like a "fairly" smart guy

Dude, I'm highly aggravated because I wrongly gave a company benefit of the doubt and received multiple lemon knives, then when I post about it like a couple members asked me to I'm being nit picked because I didn't write in paragraphs. It's extremely annoying. I didn't see your questions, I'll check

Please just butt off the thread, I don't need your BS added to my plate. I'm not gonna take your bait

I hate to say it but paragraphs do make it easier to understand.

I get what you're saying. How did the lock fail? Were you using the proper sized bits? How were they not correctly tapped?

Also I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass. I'm just asking for more clarification.

Thank you ibute. If you look at my posts and collection of Emerson's you will see I'm not lying or bashing. This is legit and I will take pics tonight. The lock bar would bend on the 10 and roadhouse with any pressure put on the spine of the blade, causing vertical blade play. I use proper size everything, my garage is stocked with almost every Mac tool you could imagine. They weren't correctly tapped because it stripped the actual threads on the screws out, not the head. The screw broke off in the handle of the 10 while I was loosening it.

If this is how you communicated your problem to Emerson's CS and reacted when they tried to understand "exactly" what the problem was (like most people here are trying to do), then it's no wonder you were treated poorly.

Like I said before, not once did I raise my voice, insult, or demand anything except for when I was returned a warranted knife with another defect. I was more than courteous. If I'm talked to disrespectfully like you did to me and I'm not in a good mood, I'm not gonna be very polite. Please just stop contributing to this thread I'm not in the mood for BS. I did this thread strictly because I was asked too, nothing else.

You were the one who called me an idiot. I find that amusing coming from someone who can't communicate effectively in written form. Maybe my snarky comments (or "BS" as you put it) were a result of your insult? Were you not in a "good mood" the day you talked to Emerson CS?

I know this company has had it's issues with F&F, but 4/4, 5/5 or whatever your statistic was sounds fishy. As a "successful business owner" you of all people should know that this is not how a company achieves the level of success or growth that Emerson has. I can't help but suspect there is more to this story...

When I read stories like this I kinda take a deep breath.

Number one. I will 99% of the time side with the customer because frankly so am I. I know what your response is going to be even before I type this but even knowing that I must say that I hope you aren't/weren't nitpicking and then got yourself in a jam. Having said that, I trust you didn't.

Where we differ though (and I know what you're gonna say more than likely) is "why in the world if they keep screwing up - you keep giving them your card number for ANOTHER knife when they can't get what you've already bought done correctly?

I would 'almost' be tempted after reading stories like these - to put out the bat signal for Ernie himself and explain that I don't want any horror stories like I have read in BFC and ask him to see to it.

It 'almost' worries me to take apart my first and only Emerson and that is supposedly one of his spellings points aka the rebuilding the Chevy story. I'd crap if anything like that even remotely happened to my 7.

Good luck pal and I hope it all works out. I am sure it will - I mean in his catalog Ernie tells you what sets them apart from the others. You have Ernie backing you. I will believe that till proven otherwise.

I really don't care about anything you think or suspect. I also don't care about fit and finish. I care about the structural integrity of the knife, sorry but vertical blade play and lock failure are unacceptable to me. So keep saying your little jab quoting I'm a "successful business owner" all you want, your contributions so far have been useless from the start.

What's useless is this thread!

If you don't care what people think, then why are you posting this to a forum?!?!?!

If the "structural issues" in your knife are unacceptable, why did you buy several more knives from the same mfr?!

To sum it all up -you go burned- but instead of learning from it and moving on you let it happen 4 more times! Then you come on BF and tell us all how how the company is the one with the problem?!

I've done some stupid things in my life, but never 4-5 times in a row... Which is why reasonable people can't help but suspect there's more to this story.

I really appreciate the kind words. Buddy, I promise you I'm not making this up, I'm not being picky, not one thing I have said is false. You can call emerson and ask them about this. Ask for Ernesto. I will take pics tonight with paper in the background of the knife and a summary of each knives issues.

The reason I continued to buy them is cause I love them! So comfortable, love the looks, love the grip, the pure USA status. That's why. I thought there was no way in hell I would get 4 defective knives. The super 7 is excellent now, the mini 15 is also excellent. The mini 15 has the potential to have the same problem the roadhouse and 10 had, that's the main point. The super 7 was sent back to emerson before it too developed the same thing.

I've had a good deal of Emersons, mostly multiple years old. No up and down on a one of them. Seems like strange and indeed, bad luck. I have however had issues with some of the screws and now have an army of backups. When disassembling and reassembling them I find slow and easy is the best approach and back off once they stop moving.

Good lord, I told you I posted it here because members asked me to in an old thread. That's the only reason. No I did not back to back purchase each knife and get burned, I used the 7, it started to develop some vertical blade play, didn't think much of it.

Then at almost the same time, I bought the 10 and roadhouse, both from different dealers. They both arrived and the 10 came with lock rock out the box. The 10 and super 7 were sent back. I hung onto the roadhouse. A week later the roadhouse did the same thing the 10 did.

The mini 15 is awesome, but it slightly does what the 10 and roadhouse did, but I will let it break in before I conclude it is defective. The blade play is so minute that I'm not worried.

I received the super 7 and 10 back after a long time of waiting and unfriendly conversations with their staff besides Ernesto and the tech, and the super 7 is freaking awesome and solid as a brick. The 10 came with the pocket clip holes incorrectly tapped, which resulted in stripped screw threads and a screw breaking off in the handle. The roadhouse and 10 for the second time is being sent back for repair.

That is the whole story. So stop saying I'm stupid, I'm not. Just have very bad luck with emerson. I still love the knives, the super 7 will get a lot of pocket time.

I'm interested to see what others have to say about Emerson knives that they themselves have purchased recently. If they aren't experiencing similar problems, it may be that the op should return or sell and switch to a brand that more adequately fits his requirements and expectations.

As a owner of two Emerson knives (traveler, and mini A100, both are structurally sound), I am interested in looking at the photos. I do like their simplicity, which attracted me to them. Please do post them when you have a chance.

Silly me but the OP's first posting seemed like he purchased the 4 knives one right after another, perhaps over a period of weeks or a month or two.

I guess sensible writing and the accurate communications are not needed in the successful business he is involved in...

But what do I know?

The super 7 and mini 15 are awesome. Again, my expectation is a structurally sound knife and that is it. I don't care about anything else, hence why I bought Emerson's. I have a zt 301 and even my broken roadhouse has been carried more. I really love the feel of my Emerson's.

No it was not back to back.
