Entire Collection Gone

That's too bad. You had a nice collection. Look at the bright side. At least you get to buy a whole bunch of new knives.

I'm sorry to hear of this.

It would be a blow for anybody, it doesn't matter how much a knife costs or how easy it is or not to replace, a collection takes time and is based on choice. All of us know that a knife is personal and some have stories even.

Hope you can get a few knives soon, and er, stay away from courts, they attract low-life of all types:eek:

What a horrible thing to have happen! It is a shame that people won't just work for what they want instead of stealing. I hope you either recover your collection, or get suitable replacements soon.

If you reported it, make sure you follow up with the detectives handling your investigation. Who knows hopefully they catch the bastard trying to sell em and this can have a happy ending.

You are lucky that they weren't high end knives....

This man is an asshat. And I would gladly take an infraction for saying so. A man lost his collection, all true knifenuts feel his pain.

That's terrible, sorry to hear you lost everything. Unfortunately, more criminals probably walk in and out of the court house than just about any other place in town.

I have read about steel lock boxes that are intended to be bolted into a vehicle, possibly inside of or in place of the console between the front seats. Usually intended for secure carry of pistols, it would be ideal for knives and other valuables as well. I don't know who sells them, but they shouldn't be hard to find. Sorry to hear about your loss. The location in which this occured just makes it doubly frustrating. It's hard to believe, isn't it? If you want to make a low budget type of lock box, get a .50 caliber military ammo can and put a good lock and hasp on that -- but BOLT IT IN PLACE.

I was not meant to be insensitive, but FACTUAL...

I don't take a bedroll full of knives on a trip ..... and I sure don't leave our car unlocked at anytime...

Korbiaka, no words have ever been more eloquently spoken, and I agree with your sentiment.

Sorry to here about your loss. Custom or not I feel for you. Hey Jgarth when someone steals from you it sucks no matter if it is $50.00 or $5,000,000.

I feel your pain. Twenty years ago I took some friends to NYC to see the empire State Building and noticed some unsavory types near where I parked my car curbside. I usually parked in the Pory Authority garage where I never, ever had any problems but this time I decided to park on the street. My tools were locked in the trunk. When we returned to my car several hours later the doors were unlocked at which time I realized I had been burgled. The perps had simply jimmied the door lock and then once inside released the trunk latch from the interior. Moral of story; I do not ever keep valuables in my vehicles when they are unattended, period. I lost about three hundred dollars worth of tools but it was a lesson learned.

Really sorry to hear about the loss.

Good luck and at least you can pick up some new knives

It is a da** shame you cant track knives like firearms but at the same time I sure as he** don't to register my knives. It is a catch 22.

Jnieport,
Sorry to hear about your loss, I'd be devastated if I lost my collection.

That's really bad news. I own 4 of the knives you listed so I can relate to your knife collecting tastes and can see how you'd be severely bummed. It sucks to have a knife stolen no matter if it's $10 or $1,000. Sentimental attachment is often times far more valuable than money.

I have to agree with others on this thread that find that earlier post highly insensitive.
