Ok, I get it, the deal fell through.

+1 Too much drama.

Just say, "Ooops" and move on. ;)

Thanks for the insight, Gianni! I don't think the ESEE crew has any real big beef with you so much as it being disappointing. :o

Thanks for the update. The way this all went down makes me not want to buy any lionsteel products. You can't trust a man that doesn't live up to his word.

Wow

Where was all this pro-USA sentiment two weeks ago when we had the poll?

Anyways, as one of the 18% that actually voted for a domestic knife, I have to say this is great news.

My hat is off to Rowen for stepping up too. Thank you.

I was one of the 18% also. I stated that I would only buy the knife if it was made in the USA, Now I might just get 2 of them.....

Do not make a mistake.
Esee asked me to produce samples nothing else. They tryed till last days before Shot Show to find an US producer!!
I promised them to make the samples within the Shot Shot. I have honored my promised like always LionSteel do.
I have never accept production program only because I have never had a purchase order!!... I say you more... my feeling was that they did not wanted make that knife outside US.

I would like to know if there is a company in all knives business that start to work 2.000 knives, under not his own name, without a formal purchase order.... it is incredible...

It was not a problem if we have to change one screw with another.. but only trust in a producer. If they had confidence in LionSteel why they looked for to another vendor till last days before Shot Show?
Why they did not be clear immediately with me?

During the Shot Show meeting (we had it during the third day of the show) they asked me 4 weeks for the purchase order.
What would happen if during the four weeks they will find an American supplier?
What I have to do in the next four weeks... I should say to LionSteel's customers that I can not send to them the already collected order because I am waiting the Esee order?

2000 pieces are a big order, not a joke.

I'm really sorry, it's not easy to say no to a possible order of 2000 pieces under a good name like Esee, but I have no power to do that.

Gianni, I appreciate your willingness to come in here and post your explanations.
I truly believe that the confusion was largely based on the fact that English is not your native language and where Jeff & Mike thoguht they had nailed down a deal for 2,000 knives from you with a purchase order to follow in 4 weeks after more product testing on the samples, you thought they wanted the 4 weeks to continue to look for a USA supplier.
To me this sounds like simple miscommunication due to language barrier, not ill will or lack of honor on either side. They thought you understood they truly wanted you to produce the knives, you thought they wanted another month to find a different supplier.
I completely understand your inability to obligate your company's resources to an order that may not happen. I also understand and agree with the disappointment felt by all those who were looking forward to the opportunity to buy one of these folders this summer.

I think that Esee should say thanks to LionSteel.
We have had the courage to say no rather than accept the order and possibly cause problems to the good image of ESEE.

LionSteel has chosen the more difficult street, but one that meets the quality standards of the two companies

I am sure that no one Esee's fan and LionSteel's fan would be happy to have standard quality less than they are accustomed

Personally, I applaud your courage to state up front that you were not certain you could meet the production deadline and so did not accept the order. Taking the order, then having delays causing the shipping date to move back a month or 2 does nothing but grow bad feelings on both sides of a collaboration like this and damage both reputations.
best of luck in your future endeavors!

Good post and I agree.

I also think it's time to close this puppy down. This thread and discussion isn't going to help either company at this point.

I agree. Best of luck to you Gianni. Wished things would have worked out but it seems like there was a huge miscommunciation. Hope to see you at Blade Show and we wish you a very successful 2011!

Gianni and Lionsteel, I wish you the very best of luck and I find it unfortunate this deal didn't happen but mistakes happen so let's move on. Thank you for the beautiful prototype I love your work and would have been more than happy to have Lionsteel make this knife.
