ESEE Fire Starter Came In Today yaaaaaaaay!!

Awesome pics. I need to get ahold of some fatwood. I don’t have a 36” diameter pot of gold in my backyard! :D

Great series of pics ...

Thanks Tony, when Rick showed them to me on the camera I thought it was pretty cool, but really liked them when I saw them full screen :)

Lol, yeah I can't believe I've lived here for 20 years and walked within 20 feet of it countless times without noticing what it was. I had never seen that much at one time before and it wasn't on my land so at first I paid no mind...but when I realized one day that the tree skeleton had changed none in the last twenty years...I had to go over and check it out. All these years I've been here and there harvesting fatwood only to have about two tons of some really rich stuff given to me by my neighbor :)

.

since you guys are talking about fatwood... i'll just ask...
i have a piece of wood (don't remember how I got it :D) and it has a few knots... i noticed that those knots are full of resin... fatwood? and they are very brittle... if i try to make feathers with it, chunks just come out...

So what I did was... drilled holes in the knots and collected the dust (or whatever you want to call it :D)

I tried my misch metal firesteel and I can't light it up... I put a match to it and it catches fire really quick and you can see the resin boiling (at least that's what it looks like to me)

What do you think???
Maybe I should post I thread about this...

post a pic of said wood spidey , sounds like the wood is still green if boiling action is taking place, that would be moisture trying to escape the heat/flame

i'll try to post pics when I get home...

but I think the wood is pretty dry... It's a 4x1 foot wood... it's not a log... i made my firesteel handle out of that wood...

like i said, i'll post pics when I get home...

looks impressive, sure beats the cheap one i got from a local sporting store.

only thing i noticed there kind of hard to find online.

I will be trying to replicate this:

The owner made the bed rig, easy enough since its just tube lol. But I think I will go with bigger meats, the wheels look alright...

Will be looking to strip truck to bare frame, and coat. As well under cab and bed, and other parts.

I am debating if I really want a 5.4 in there, or maybe something else...maybe a 4.6, I dunno.

Still all up in the air.

But now I am liking the green on the fire kits....kinda want the ranger green now....may have to make the led tail lights cause everything I'm seeing is all cheapo low rider street truck junk.

Damn it...

Make sure you don't get more in it than you can find one or something that is already rigged out. I have made that mistake twice.

Consider a strait axle too ;).
