Quick question. Very simple. Would you buy a quality ESEE folder built somehwere besides the USA as long as the warranty and quality was top notch? Now, with that said, this violates our philosophy of trying to keep all of our goods USA made. Problem is there are not a lot of quality makers in the USA willing to take on another folder project. So, if the only choice you have for the ESEE-3 folder is have it made in Italy, are you still interested if price, quality and warranty is good? If so, then Mike and I will give on our philosophy when it comes to only having quality knives made in the USA and go forward with Lion Steel. But we are asking you guys to make that choice for us. We want your input. Keep it short though and to the point though, No need for a lot of chatter. ALL opinions welcome.

EDIT: it would be Lion Steel making this folder for us if we go outside the USA.

I think it is good to let us know who you are outsourcing this to (Lion Steel) so given their quality control I'd say go for it.

I don't have a problem with foreign made goods. I do have a problem with communist made goods. Italy is fine in my opinion.

If we go foreign made it would be Lion Steel. No question about that. Not China or Taiwan. Definitely not Latin America! LOL

i like the idea of using the fixed blade warranty on a lionsteel made knife. i voted yes.

Jeff, I certainly can't speak for everyone but would like to believe that if you (ESEE) put your name on a product be it made in Italy, China or the faulkyn islands it would be enough for me.

Not just because I am a fan of ESEE but of the honor and integrity in which you all conduct business. You make that folder, wherever the hell it's produced and say you guys back it (not meaning warranty)....well you got (more) of my hard earned cash.

yea i dont think it has to be made in the U.S. to be a good product and if you guys stand behind it enough to warranty it, i dont see how it wouldnt go over well.

I would prefer a USA folder but its just not easy to find someone to make it and to do it for a price most of us can afford. I'm not buying it to set on a shelf in my safe.

So I have no problem buying an Italian made folder any more than I would Italian guns and I've got a bunch of those.

take it easy

Italy, and other European Countries are more than capable of producing a quality blade. Japan, Australia and Taiwan as well.

If ESEE does the design, specifies the material, and monitors the result, I don't really have an issue with it.

I prefer, to have American Products made in America, but I realize that we DO live in a global economy. I also am cognizant of the FACT that we have lost the ability to domestically manufacture every thing we want and need.

Mike and I naturally like to have as many things made in our own country as possible. But we are very impressed with Lion Steel on this ESEE-3 folder prototype.

another yes here. i don't care where it's made as long as it is quality and backed up. i would love for it to be stamped 'idaho made', but i suppose i could live without that. :(

All other things being equal, I'd prefer it was made in the US. But all other things are obviously not equal. You guys do what you need to do to get this knife made, and I'll buy it.
