Main thing with Mike and I is you, the customer, is what brought us to the point we are with our knives. True, our philosophy and partnershiop with Rowen's excpetional quality are the other two legs to this tree-cornered stool, but we don't want to make a decision such as this without the customer being involved in that process.

It is a global world.

I am leery of China because of the consistency problem. China is capable of making supurb cutlery and steel. But will they when you really need them to? These days GB is pretty much the China of Europe on this point.

Japan makes great knives and great steel...they pretty much own the kitchen knife business right now.

Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland...all known for outstanding quality cutlery.

Theoretically, India should be able to make outstanding steel and cutlery. Despite the name, they invented Damascus...real Demascus, not the fancy stuff we refer to today...as well as many other key innovations in the manufacture of steel. I think it has been a long time since India, however, has been a player in high quality blades.

So I vote yes.

Thanks for asking.

I would not hesitate to purchase it. I have faith and trust in the name ESEE, so I know I'm getting a quality tool.

I don't care where it's being made. Even if it was made in China (and yes, I know it's not) I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I know that anything you guys put your name on is going to be quality, and that's the thing I think your products are best known for, even beyond the whole USA-made thing. At the end of the day, the question isn't where your tool came from, but does the damn thing work like it should? :D

Let’s see how many people say they don’t want a folder made in China because they didn’t read your first post. :D

If you and Mike stand behind it, not being made in the US isn’t a deal breaker. You guys have built a reputation for honesty, quality and not bullshitting your customers. I have no qualms about buying anything you’re willing to put your names on.

Lion Steel makes good stuff.

If it comes in at a price point I can afford at the general standard of excellence exhibited by other ESEE products, then I don't have a problem buying a blade made by someone else to your specs.
Your survival/E&E kits contain components made outside the USA, but they all meet your standards, so why should this be any different?

wow! i just looked at their site... if it's anything like that sr-1, i'll have to say goodbye to my other folders. i don't know that i can afford the lionsteel pricetag though. :( actually, the proto really looks a lot like that knife, except the blade shape. will you have the low profile clip option as well?

I voted yes. It's not like you guys would let a Sub-Par knife go out to the Public to begin with. I have no doubt it would rock just the same as all your knives. IF it also has the same Warrenty and support....Nothing to worry about in my mind.

Go For It!!

Yes. Judging by the photos of the prototypes, build quality doesn't look like an issue for Lion Steel.

That said, does this mean you'll be stamping Alabama Designed on one side of the handle and Italy Made on the other? That might be upsetting to some.

I'm interested, particularly if it comes from a first-world country. USA, western Europe, Japan, even Taiwan can all produce an excellent product. If ESEE stands behind it, I'm definitely interested!

As long as you keep it in a country that respects it's citizens enough to let them travel, speak and worship freely. In other words, stay away from the Communist and Fascist countries.

same here

As long as it's made in a responsible manner with both respect to the designer and the materials I have no qualms with it's origin.

I just wished the guys who are choosing to vote no would post their reson. There is no right or wrong answer to this question and we won't let this get into a debate or fight. We're truly looking for honest feelings/feedback
